Hotel Review: Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara + GIVEAWAY!

Sofitel's arrival in Malaysia brings the height of French sophistication and luxury to Kuala Lumpur. Recently, we had the pleasure of staying at Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara and we were suitably impressed with the interior design features throughout this new property, from the beautiful pool to the diverse yet equally impressive themed restaurants and the well-appointed rooms.

Located in the heart of affluent Damansara Heights, this is Sofitel's first hotel in Malaysia. The luxurious 312-room Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara is part of an 8.5-acre integrated development by GuocoLand, comprising two luxury condominium blocks, two corporate office towers, the hotel and a lifestyle mall (DC Mall).

The hotel's interior, designed by Wilson Associates, blends the local heritage of both countries, paying homage to the rich Malaysian and French heritage and culture. At the hotel lobby, you will find a unique feature wall depicting Malaysia's Wau Bulan (also known as moon kite) merged with French art vivre through an Eiffel Tower sculpture.

After checking in, we went up to our respective "boys" and "girls" rooms on the 7th Floor which were located next door to each other. Luxuriously appointed and modern, it befits its category name, The Luxury Room. Each 43 sqm room is equipped with either a king-sized or two single beds, featuring the signature bedding concept by MyBed™ and a gorgeous marble bathroom as well as a separate wardrobe area for storing your luggage and their contents.

Check out what the boys got up .. ;)

The bed is super comfortable and the soundproofing is great, so a great night's sleep is guaranteed. As part of Sofitel'ss signature MyBed™ experience, a packet of calming herbal tea is provided for you to enjoy during turndown service.

The view is great too as our room looks out to the swimming pool. With several large mirrors in the room, they're perfect for selfies - we especially loved the large decorative mirror in the bedroom which adds a French touch. There is a 49" LCD TV, and the kids were happy to find Disney Channel and Cartoon Network on there.

In the rooms, you will also find a Nespresso coffee machine as well as TWG tea, and a mini bar (chargeable) filled with treats from Valrhona and Bonne Maman. There is a separate work desk with USB charging points.

One of the most beautiful hotel bathrooms in KL, you will find a separate freestanding bathtub, shower and toilet. Here, you will find premium toiletries by Lanvin (Hermes in the suite category), digital weighing scales, loofah, hair dryer and a complete set of amenities, providing guests with everything they need for a comfortable stay.

Sofitel also provides the softest, most plush bath robes and slippers - slip into one and you'll understand what I mean!

Worth a mention too is Club Millésime, Sofitel's global interpretation for Club Lounge. Located on Level 22 of the hotel, this is the perfect for those seeking intimate breakfasts, relaxing afternoon teas or wine/champagnes in the evening. Tastefully elegant, this space is exclusive with outstanding service to meet the most discerning guest's needs.

Breakfast is served daily from 6.30am to 10.30am at Club Millésime; the compact breakfast menu offers eggs in various ways (I highly recommend the Eggs Benedict), French crepes, pancakes, French toast as well as Asian favourites such as nasi goreng, congee and mee goreng mamak.

Everyday in the afternoon, the French have Le Goûter, also known as an afternoon snack or tea time, to tide them over until dinner time. Guests with access to Club Millésime can enjoy a complimentary Le Gouter set, comprising pastries and cakes with coffee and tea from 3pm to 5pm daily.

Perhaps one of the best Cocktail Hours I've experienced in KL, guests will be able to enjoy champagne, wine and various liquors along with cold cuts, cheese, bread and pastries from 6pm to 8pm. We were also impressed that they serve pass-around bites (about three types per evening) to guests.

The hotel pool area is very French-chic, with its blue-and-white parasols and lounge chairs and private cabanas. It's easy to spend hours just relaxing by the pool here. The pool offers varying depths (0.4m, 0.9m and 1.2m) to cater for all ages.

There is also a So SPA located on Level 2B of the hotel, offering a wide range of massages, facials as well as their signature Hammam ritual. Our detailed review can be found here.

Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara is home to five restaurants and bars. The signature all-day dining restaurant Kwee Zeen features a range of International and local cuisine with an interactive kitchen concept. Guests who do not have access to Club Millesime can enjoy daily buffet breakfast at this restaurant.

Wan Chun Ting, which translates as "Ten Thousand Springs Pavilion" is the Chinese fine dining restaurant in Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara. Step into an era of grandeur, with its high ceilings, plush furnishings and elegant setting, and enjoy authentic Cantonese and Imperial cuisine, with specialties from Northern China such as Peking duck and Beggar's Chicken. The restaurant offers a dim sum and a la carte menu for lunch, and for dinner, the menu is slightly more extensive. Nizza is the chic, modern French-Mediterranean restaurant at Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara. The blue and white tiled floors, which are also evident on some tabletops and the menus is a nod to the French Riviera, which the restaurant draws inspiration from. Vast side doors open up to the pool and sophisticated bar area, allowing a breeze to caress guests as they dine in the restaurant. Diners can also watch the chefs in the semi-open kitchen, via a glass wall.

Enjoy a selection of French wines and afternoon tea at Le Bar, located at the hotel lobby.

Strategically located midway between Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya within close proximity to Kuala Lumpur Sentral, Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara is within walking distance to the Pusat Bandar Damansara MRT station and 55 minutes to Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
