Best Japanese Buffets in KL

Yay the weekend is finally here! Here are 4 of my favorite Japanese buffets in KL, perfect for indulging in over the weekend (or every day of the week).

1. Hanare, The Intermark

This is one Japanese buffet we go to over and over again. We love the sashimi here - very fresh, although the selection is limited, the quality is very good. I believe this is the only buffet in KL which offers chuotoro (tuna belly) too. In the past, it used to offer unlimited chutoro (those were the days!), however now it is limited to 3 pieces per person.

Another highlight here is unlimited Australian Wagyu beef from the teppanyaki counter. They also do teppanyaki prawns and scallops which are really good!

Available every Saturday and Sunday, 12 noon to 2pm.

Price: RM168++ per adult, RM88++ per child (4-12 years old)

2. Kogetsu, The Saujana Hotel KL

Kogetsu operates an a la carte buffet, which means that you can choose and place unlimited orders from the menu. This means your food is always freshly prepared to order. However, they do have a few items on the buffet spread, such as sushi, appetizers and desserts.

Highlights: The spread is amazing, including sashimi, sushi, teppanyaki, tempura, grilled meats, deep fried dishes, simmer dishes, soups, noodles and desserts. The sashimi is really fresh and we love the unagi kabayaki too. Do not miss the dishes from the teppanyaki counter too, such as beef tenderloin, scallops and prawns.

Available every Saturday and Sunday from 11.30am to 3.00pm.

Price: RM145 per person, kids below 12 eat for FREE!

3. Tatsu, InterContinental KL

You will find over 75 a la carte and buffet items here, including freshly flown-in seafood, sashimi, sushi, tempura to rib eye beef teppanyaki. Most of the items are on the buffet spread (ie sashimi, sushi, appetizers, hot items, noodles, teppanyaki, miso soup, chawanmushi and desserts) and are regularly replenished by the chefs. On every table, there will be an order sheet with 8 items, which you can order from the waiting staff and it will be cooked to order.

Highlights: The sashimi here is fresh and they have a great range of Japanese appetizers for you to choose from. We also love the beef teppanyaki; head over to the counter and watch the chef in action.

Available every Saturday from 6.30pm to 10.30pm, until 26 November 2016.

Price: RM 118 nett per adult, RM 69 nett per child (5 to 11 years old).

*Please note that the Tatsu Japanese Buffet is currently replaced by the Dine with Me promo.

4. Zipangu, Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur

The buffet dinner is available daily, and features an impressive spread of sashimi, sushi, seafood on ice, teppanyaki, tempura, hot dishes and desserts.

Highlights: We love the fresh seafood on ice as well as sashimi (there are 5 types to choose from - salmon, tuna, butterfish, tako and hamachi). We also enjoyed the prawn tempura (light and crispy), unagi kabayaki as well as prawn, scallop and beef teppanyaki. For dessert, try the Japanese desserts such as homemade mochi or miso cake.

Available Monday to Sundays from 6.30pm to 10.30pm.

Price: RM175 nett per person.
