Sangkaya + Homi Chicken Curry Puff, Midvalley, KL

One of the food craze in KL this year is this Sangkaya coconut ice cream. We finally got around to trying it last week, as they have newly opened a stall at Midvalley Megamall. The stall is located opposite Teppanyaki Restaurant on LG Floor.

We went for the signature(RM10.50); four scoops of coconut ice cream served in a halved coconut shell, with strips of coconut flesh. With this, you can choose 3 toppings of your choice from sweet corn, coconut flakes, roasted peanuts, cereal, corn flakes, chocolate sauce and kidney beans. We went for the first three.

Other than coconut ice cream, you can also go for cha yen flavour (Thai milk tea infused coconut ice cream). You can get them in cup (RM7.30 for 3 scoops) and cone (RM3.10 for a scoop) too.

Taste test... due to all the hype, we had pretty high expectations. It was not bad, but it wasn't mind blowing either. If not for the coconut flakes, the coconut flavour was pretty muted. Perhaps it would be more enjoyable if we had this under the hot sun :P

We also tried the Homi chicken curry puff (RM3.10), located at The Gardens Mall. About 3x larger than your ordinary curry puff, we loved the buttery pastry and the delicious curry chicken filling. Would definitely buy this again :)

  1. Yen, I agree with you that the coconut taste in Sangkaya ice cream is very mild. It is just OK for me.

  3. Yet to try this Sangkaya - everyone's blogging about it, reviews have been mixed, I would say. Tried the curry puffs before, not to my liking so not something I would want to go for again...especially not in KL, so many things to eat, so little time.

  4. Gosh, your 3 scoops of ice cream look even smaller than the one I had at Uptown! The Homi curry puff sells for about RM2.20 only (outside MV of course). I've eaten both and they do taste similar.
