Syun, Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore

On our last day at Resorts World Sentosa, we had lunch at Syun, a Japanese fine dining restaurant helmed by celebrity chef Hal Yamashita.  The restaurant is located at Festive Walk, near Crockfords Tower. The menu is rooted in Kobe cuisine, using only the freshest premium ingredients, but presented with a refreshingly modern twist. Some of his signature dishes include sea urchin in rolled Wagyu beef, and grilled cod with Saikyo miso.

However, they only serve set lunch during lunch time. You can choose from sashimi set (S$28), premium nigiri sushi set (S$68), nigiri sushi set (S$40) or Jyu box sets (Salmon & ikura, bara chirashi, unagi and foie gras teriyaki, wagyu beef tomato sukiyaki, and seafood house special) ranging from S$32 to S$58. They also do a kids set which includes grilled salmon.

I ordered the Bara Chirashi Sushi Jyu (S$32) and when it arrived, I thought "gosh what a pretty bara chirashi". The mixed raw seafood, such as chopped salmon, tuna, hamachi as well as unagi, edible flowers and lots and lots of ikura were beautifully and artfully arranged in the box. My first time eating a bara chirashi with more seafood than rice in it... ;) . Hands down the best bara chirashi I've had in terms of both taste and presentation!

Hubby had the Seafood House Special Jyu (S$50) which featured rice stacked with luxurious ingredients such as sea urchin,  prawn, scallop, seared salmon, ikura and crab stick. I think Baby C enjoyed this set as I saw her stealing bites of the salmon and prawns from her daddy's side of the table. Hubby also kindly shared some of his uni (sea urchin) with me :)

Both Jyu Box Set comes with miso soup, chawanmushi, and a green salad with yuzu ginger dressing.

We also ordered two sashimi sets (S$28) for the kids, which came with 3 types of sashimi. On our visit, we were served fresh, thick slices of kampachi, snapper and tuna. The sashimi set also comes with rice, miso soup, chawanmushi and a green salad.

For dessert, we had the chocolate red bean dessert, which was like a soft cake, topped with cream and strawberry slices. We also had the matcha ice cream dessert, which turned out to be matcha ice cream sandwiched between shiso leaf two thin wafers, served in a wooden box.
