Spa Review: The Majestic Spa by Spa Village + Truefitt & Hill @ The Majestic Hotel KL

The Spa Village has a reputation of being one of the best spas in the country and I couldn't agree more. We have previously experienced the Spa Village at Pangkor Laut Resort, Tanjong Jara Resort, Cameron Highlands Resort as well as The Ritz-Carlton KL, and now we can add another fantastic spa experience at The Majestic Spa at Majestic Hotel KL to the list.

The Majestic Spa is located in a double-storey annexe between the newly-restored Majestic Hotel and the grand Mughal-inspired railway administration building. Step inside and you will immediately notice that the interior is greatly influenced by the distinctive style of renowned Scottish architect, designer and artist Charles Rennie Mackintosh's Willow Tearooms. High-backed chairs are some of Mackintosh's trademark furniture designs and they can be found in the sitting area as well as the treatment rooms.

Welcome to The Majestic Spa

The Majestic Spa offers seven treatment rooms, a relaxation area and its own swimming pool. The treatments on offer have a distinctive British flavour. For example, their signature treatments include Queen Victoria's Lavender (which uses English lavender) and English Afternoon Tea.

Upon arrival, we were asked if we would like a welcome cocktail, mocktail or tea. We were then taken upstairs for a pre-treatment ritual and in keeping with the British theme, the ritual is named "A Gift from The Garden" and guests are pampered with two classics from the English garden, lavender and rosemary. It starts off with a soothing lavender foot bath to relieve pains and fatigue, as well as a 5-herb foot scrub containing lavender, thyme, mint and rosemary. A rosemary hair tonic is used for the stimulating and revitalising scalp massage.

We were then ushered to the couple treatment suite for the Malaya Golden Chersonese experience (RM1,500++ per couple). This 2 1/2 hours couples treatment celebrates the epic journey of explorer and writer Isabella Lucy Bird in British Malaya. Her time spent in British Malaya is famously chronicled in "The Golden Chersonese" - the ancient name for the Malay Peninsula.

For her, it begins with a banana honey hair masque, followed by a papaya coconut scrub, lime blossom bath and the Bunga Rampai massage using frangipani and pandan essential oils. I absolutely adored the whole treatment and I came out feeling radiant and rejuvenated.

Hubby's treatment also begins with the banana honey hair masque (we joked that it smelt so nice and good enough to eat, probably!), followed by a Malaya herbs scrub (which includes tongkat ali), herbal steam and the East Indian spice massage with essentials oils of ginger, patchouli and ylang ylang. He thoroughly enjoyed the scrub, combined with the expertly executed massage the treatments left him feeling like a new man.

After our treatment, we were ushered back to the waiting area for a cup of camomile tea and a cookie. It was definitely a relaxing, and indulgent spa experience for us.
