Botanical, Bangsar Village II, KL

Instead of visiting our usual lunch place when we were at Bangsar, we decided to try a new place - Botanical, also by The Big Group. Botanical is a meat-free restaurant and its decor is reminiscent of an outdoor courtyard.

As meat lovers, picking an item from the meatless menu was pretty challenging. We studied the menu for quite a bit before we could decide what we wanted to eat. What's the difference between salad A and salad B? At one point I thought, are we crazy for choosing to have lunch here? We finally settled for two dishes to share and also a dessert for later.

Complimentary olive foccacia with balsamic-olive oil dip, served in a brown bag - warm and soft

Turns out I had nothing to worry about, as Botanical proves that a meat-free meal can be wholly satisfying. The mushroom and asparagus risotto was nicely cooked, rich and comforting. It was topped with a poached egg (which didn't look very nice) but was still runny when we poked the yolk.

We enjoyed the risotto here very much

Runny egg yolk, always a bonus

With so many salads to choose from, I think we picked the right one - the Pear & Avocado salad, was really good.  The sweet pear, creamy avocado, tart white balsamic dressing and salty Parmigiano Reggiano worked well together for a burst of different flavours.

So good we tried reenacting this at home

Service however is a little slow. While waiting for our dessert, we took some photos of the restaurant...

This was recommended to us by our friend Felicia, after she found out we were lunching at Botanical (via Instagram photos). WOW, what a lovely cake it was - decadent chocolate mousse paired with large sweet strawberries. Soon, it became the "fight of the two forks" to see who could eat faster (and more of this). :P

Seriously good.

Botanical in Bangsar Village

Oh, and the reason we were here at Bangsar. To pick up a sibling for my Kitchenaid mixer ;)

Verdict: Great place for a meat-free meal. We were hesitant at first to dine here, but sure was glad that we gave it a go as the food here is very well-prepared and delicious.
