Asian Street Food Promotion @ Eccucino, Prince Hotel KL

Eccucino, the all-day dining restaurant at Prince Hotel & Residence Kuala Lumpur is featuring an ‘Asian Street Food’ buffet dinner until the end of April 2013. The buffet brings together different Asian street food into one venue and aims to share the vibrant food culture from around Southeast Asia, a region known for its tasty and adventurous flavours in food. Eccucino Chef de Cuisine Jason Manson and his team has put together a spread featuring a wide selection of Malaysian street food, as well as from countries in this region such as Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, India and Philippines amongst others.

The menu rotates daily, with selections such as Penang's Oh Chien (fried oysters), Thailand's pad thai, Balinese satays and more. We managed to try some of the local specialities such as chicken rice, curry laksa, roti canai and the grill corner (satays, grilled king prawns and grilled fish). The chicken rice is a popular Malaysian dish, simple, familiar and delicious dish which the kids enjoyed very much. I like the curry laksa (pretty decent broth) and the grilled counters too especially the grilled prawns and grilled fish wrapped in banana leaf. Hubby's favorite was the lamb vindaloo which he kept going back for more.

Chicken rice with 4 different dips - kids polished off a whole plate

Japanese sushi and other Asian appetizers such as kerabu mangga

Fresh seafood on ice

Rojak buah, a famous Malaysian street snack made up of fruits and a sweet-sour peanut sauce

Popiah basah and goreng

Roti canai

Curry laksa - the broth was pretty decent

Thai basil beef

Lamb vindaloo - tender pieces of meat, very good.

Yong tau foo

Japanese chilli beef ramen - this one was fiery hot!

Grill counter - good selection, I especially liked the grilled prawns, fish and chicken satay

Baby C likes the grilled fish wrapped in banana leaf too

As for desserts, choose from a variety of French pastries or Asian desserts such as Thai sticky rice with mango, apam balik, sago gula melaka, kuih-muih, luk chup, and tau fu fah. Kids went straight for the Malay kuihs and ice cream!

  4. This reminds me of a really nice buffet in Taiwan. There are so many kinds of Asian foods. It's something we cannot get it here. SO jealous!
