Happy New Year 2013 + Recipe for Virgin Mojito

Happy New Year 2013!

Dear readers and friends, here's wishing you all a GREAT 2013 with abundance of good food and smiles. 2012 has been a great year for me - made lots of new friends as well as rekindled my passion for cooking and food styling. In 2013, I hope to share with you more simple recipes and restaurant reviews of good food around KL.

Pop open a bottle of champagne and celebrate in style! And have a bubbly new year ;)

Have a splashing good time.. whatever you do :)

To kick start the new year, I am sharing with you one of my favorite drinks, the Virgin Mojito. Strange but true, I actually prefer the non-alcoholic version to the alcoholic one. This is extremely easy to make, and is a very refreshing drink that you can enjoy on a hot afternoon. And since there is no alcohol involved, my kids get to enjoy it too. :)

If you cannot get your hands on Sprite or 7-Up, you can also use soda water with some caster sugar, added to taste.

A drink for all ages, the Virgin Mojito

Virgin Mojito (Mocktail)
Preparation time: under 10 minutes
Serves 5-6

Ingredients
1.3l Sprite or 7-Up
2 large handfuls of mint leaves
Juice of 8 calamansi (limau kasturi) or limes
Ice cubes

1. In a mixing glass, muddle the mint leaves. Add the Sprite and 7-Up, add the calamansi juice and stir until well mixed. Pour into glasses with fresh hard ice cubes.

  14. Can you believe another year has passed? Time can be so funny; at times, dragging on, but so often, speeding by and we barely have time to catch our breath. I hope this New Year’s Eve is filled with love and laughter, relaxation and joy.
