New Items @ Sanuki Udon, Taman Bukit Desa, KL

Satisfaction. That is the feeling I get whenever we have lunch at Sanuki Udon in Taman Bukit Desa, KL. A simple bowl of udon noodles, some karaage (Japanese deep fried chicken) and kakiage (deep fried shredded vegetables) is all it takes to make me a happy girl. The noodles are addictively good, that I need to have my fix at least once a week.

Last month, they added a few new items to the menu - 2 cold noodle dishes, hiyashi goma tsukemen (RM7) and oroshi ume udon (RM6). There is also a new tan tan udon (RM6) as well as kushiage (Japanese deep fried skewered items). I have tried the hiyashi goma tsukemen, which is a cold udon dish topped with a generous amount of wakame, shredded cucumber, scallion and a sesame dipping sauce. This is pretty good, very refreshing, though I would recommend if you order this to add on an extra soft boiled egg (RM1) as it makes the sauce even creamier and richer.

However, my favorite is still their House Special with Egg (RM5), slurpworthy noodles topped with an egg, scallions, some dashi stock, and a generous sprinkling of shichimi (seven-spice pepper) for a little kick. If we're feeling greedy, Hubby and I would order an extra bowl to share ;) Our kids on the other hand like the soupy wakame udon.

Our favorite accompaniments, karaage (RM3) and kakiage (RM3)

Very juicy and tender chicken

Also tried one of their kushiage items, cheese sausage (RM2)... which tasted like, well, sausage coated in breadcrumbs. LOL. I'll just stick to our favorites next time. There is also tori momo (chicken leg meat), ebi (prawn), uzura (quail) egg, okura (ladies finger), tamanegi (onion), nasu (eggplant), shiitake (mushroom), jyagaimo (potato), and satsuma imo (sweet potato).  Yakitori is no longer served in this outlet.

On our last visit there this week, the owner informed us that he would be opening a yakitori outlet soon in January 2013, location to be advised soon.
