Jell-O No Bake Strawberry Cheesecake

Have you ever made something out of a pack that tasted so good that all you want to do is tell everyone about it? Which is precisely what I'm doing right now.

Hubby often comments that the cheesecakes in Malaysia are not like the ones he has grown accustomed to in the UK.

So, when he found this pack of Jell-O No Bake Strawberry Cheesecake at the baking aisle in Cold Storage, The Gardens which looked extremely similar to the ones he used to get in the UK, we decided to give it a try. As the name suggests, it requires NO baking and just a few simple steps using the prepared mixes in the pack to produce a yummy looking cheesecake.

Time on box suggests that the cheesecake will take 15 minutes to prep, but we took about 25 minutes.

Firstly, we had to melt 5 tbsp of butter in a bowl over a simmering pot of water. Then stir the Crust Mix with 2 tbsp of sugar (we used soft brown sugar) and the melted butter in a 9-inch pie plate until the crumbs are evenly moistened. Using the back of a spoon, press onto bottom and up side of the pie plate.

Then, pour 1 1/2 cups of cold milk into a mixing bowl and add the Filling Mix. Beat for 3-4 minutes until filling becomes thick (custard-like).

Spoon filling onto crust and refridgerate for 1 hour.

Squeeze strawberry topping over dessert and spread using a spatula to cover dessert.

Although the pack suggests that the cheesecake can now be consumed, we put the cheesecake back in the refridgerator for it to set further.

Just before eating, dip the pie plate, in hot water for 30 seconds, for easy cutting and serving.

And voila, a gorgeous strawberry cheesecake just waiting to be eaten!

Guess what I'll be having for dessert tonight :-)

Good results - cheesecake on pack vs. the real thing

Exactly what Hubby was looking for, the cheesecake of his youth.

Verdict: Extremely easy to assemble and the cheesecake looks and tastes divine!! Just as the pack says, the cheesecake is velvety smooth.

Perfect for those with limited time to cook/bake. Definitely a dessert that could be served to guests! (And shhhh, you don't have to tell them it all came out of a pack.)

Available in Cold Storage, The Gardens for RM14.90 per pack.
