Yut Sun Restaurant, Taiping: Hainanese Food

Just before leaving Taiping, we stopped by at Yut Sun for lunch. Yut Sun came highly recommended by a local friend. They serve Hainanese specialties such as Hainanese chicken chop, beef steak, noodles as well as Hainanese toast with eggs. They have an English menu here, and their owner/servers are able to converse in English.

We ordered a Hainanese chicken chop (RM11), fried mee (mee hailam - RM5) as well as half boiled egg on toast (RM4) to share. Service was very efficient, with us getting served within 10-15 minutes of placing the order. The Hainanese chicken chop was excellent and well worthy of its fame. The chicken was tender and we loved the thick brown sauce that came with this dish. Very yummy!

The fried mee was decent too, but if you only have space for one dish here at Yut Sun, make it the Hainanese chicken chop. The eggs on toast were similar to the telur goyang we had in Ipoh.

There is another restaurant called Yat Sun Restaurant down the road - we double checked with the owner and were told they are the same as Yut Sun. Yat Sun is air-conditioned and opens for both lunch and dinner.


Pork-free.

Opening hours: 8am - 5pm. Closed on Tuesdays.

Price: Total bill RM25.40, including drinks.
