Brasserie Léon, TTDI, KL: Steak Frites, Raclette & More!

Tucked away on the first floor of The Greens Terrace, TTDI is Brasserie Léon, a charming French brasserie, specialising in steak frites, raclette and more!

The brasserie is casual, welcoming yet elegant. Natural sunlight streams in to the brasserie through the large glass windows. A small opening allows diners to peek into the kitchen and watch the chefs at work.

Helming the kitchen here is chef-owner Geoffroi Herin, who hails from Lyon in France. The menu is unfussy and straightforward, showcasing the essential, classic French favourites.

Bites

Start with the half-dozen baked shell-less escargots with garlic butter (RM16.90), a classic French delicacy, perfectly executed here at Brasserie Léon. Earthy and tender, with a delicious garlicky flavour. Baby D was feeling adventurous, so he had his first escargot... and he loved it! We mopped up the rest of yummy garlic butter sauce with bread.

Brie is my all-time favourite cheese, so the Deep fried brie cheese (RM15.90) with red onion chutney was right up my alley. In fact, the kids thoroughly enjoyed it too... oozy melty cheese, encased in a crisp shell and complemented beautifully with the sweet chutney.

One of Chef Geoff's signature dishes is the Flamed cured mackerel (RM13.90) with cucumber and shallots vinaigrette. Fresh, zingy, with a slight smokiness from being torched, this was a lovely, appetizing way to start the meal. You can also add-on crusty, homemade bread (RM5.90), served with homemade butter to go with your meal.

Coming soon to the menu are the Deep fried beef cromesquis, which according to Chef Geoff are French's version of nuggets or croquette. Minced beef is dipped in batter and deep fried, and served with smoked paprika mayo.

The specialties

A true-blue brasserie, Brasserie Léon serves the classic French steak and fries, Steak frites. Here, diners have the option of either Australian grain-fed beef striploin (RM49.90 for 180g) or Australian grain-fed Angus beef striploin (RM79.90 for 180g). The steaks are expertly grilled to our preferred doneness, sliced and then served with their secret signature sauce (containing herbs and butter), homemade triple-cooked fries and a green salad.

The fries are made using Russet potatoes, and are triple-cooked to produce crispy yet fluffy fries. They are first blanched, then fried on a low heat and finally deep fried on a high heat.

Another French favourite is the Le Poulet Frites (RM19.90). At Brasserie Léon, they serve half a spring chicken, which is first smoked and then roasted. The tender, juicy chicken is served with a traditional chicken jus, French fries and salad.

Roasted spring chicken

New on the menu is the Roasted salmon served with a beurre blanc sauce, with hints of smoked paprika. Similarly, this is served with French fries and salad. Perfect for seafood lovers!

Raclette

Are you a cheese lover? Then, raclette is the answer to your dreams.

A new addition to the menu, the raclette cheese wheel sits proudly in the centre of the brasserie. Diners can choose to have it in five different ways - traditional, or with poutine, roast chicken, smoked duck breast or streaky beef.

We had the Traditional Raclette (RM32.90), whereby melted raclette cheese is scraped over steamed potatoes, onion pickles and gherkins. Simple and so goooooood!

We also had Raclette with Streaky Beef (RM44.90), also served with baked potatoes, onion pickles, and gherkin. Delish!

Diners can also choose to have scraped raclette cheese (100g for RM22.90) on any of their favourites from the menu.

Desserts

End your meal on a sweet note, with one of three desserts available, or go for all three. Why not?

Choose from the vanilla-flavoured Creme Brulee (RM9.90), or the 70% dark Chocolate Mousse (RM10.90) - both rich, creamy and indulgent. There is also a Tiramisu Verrine (RM10.90), with homemade espresso genoise layered with mascarpone cheese.
