Seafood Porridge / Noodles @ Kedai Makanan OK, Taiping

When we were researching what to eat in Taiping, we were told that seafood noodle was one of the must-try dishes in this town. Kedai Makanan OK was recommended to us by a friend (and local), and the food here was definitely more than OK for us ;)

Ar Kedai Makanan OK, you will find a chicken rice stall as well as a stall called "Sakai". They specialise in seafood or fish porridge / noodle, pork noodle or curry mee. We ordered a seafood porridge, seafood noodle (koay teow) and curry mee to share.

The seafood porridge (RM11) was nice and sweet, and came with ample amount of fresh seafood such as prawns, fishball and fish fillet.  Similarly, we enjoyed the seafood noodles (RM11) - the broth although clear was really tasty and flavorful.

The curry mee (RM4) was our favourite here - robust, well-spiced soup with prawns, tofu puff and beansprouts. The kopi peng and teh peng here are well-worth a try too.

St. George School Taiping (located on the same street) - very nice looking building

Beautiful heritage building next door

  1. I love porridge but we can't get any seafood ones here. My! My! They sure were very generous with the spring onions.
