2019 Mooncakes @ Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur

Celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival with handcrafted mooncakes from Lai Po Heen, the award-winning Chinese restaurant at Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur. Indulge in traditional baked, snow skin or sinful chocolate mooncakes, all beautifully presented in an elegant royal purple fabric gift box with delicate orchid embroidery.

In support of local artists, Mandarin Oriental KL has collaborated with Samantha Cheah, better known as Yue Yue. The mooncake gift box she created was inspired by the display of orchids within the hotel's premises, along with the Mandarin Oriental fan emblem representing the full moon during the Mid-Autumn Festival.

"Orchids are considered a symbol of love, elegance and friendship, while purple orchids signify royalty and admiration. They are traditionally given as a sign of respect and dignity, and I felt that it is suitable for Mandarin Oriental and the festival. On the box, the purple orchids are made with intricate embroidery exuding luxury and harmony, while the use of the iconic Mandarin Oriental fan represents the full moon on Mid-Autumn Festival, " said Samantha Cheah.

This year, guests can choose from six varieties of traditional baked mooncakes (RM37 per piece), three varieties of chocolate mooncakes (RM49 per piece), snow skin mooncakes (from RM37 per piece) or special edition golden mooncakes (RM49 per piece). All mooncakes are pork-free; traditional baked mooncakes are Halal-certified.

The mooncakes are available from now until 12 September at the hotel lobby (9am to 9pm daily) or can be purchased via their Online Gourmet Shop (kualalumpur.mandarinorientalshop.com). For enquiries or placement of orders, please contact mokul-lpoheen@mohg.com or +603 2179 8885.
