Luk Yu Tea House, KL: Pork-Free Dim Sum

Luk Yu Tea House pays tribute to China’s tea house and dim sum culture by re-creating the warm and welcoming ambience of traditional tea houses with an open side entrance reminiscent of villages in ancient China. Located in the bustling Feast Village in Starhill Gallery Kuala Lumpur, diners can tuck into steaming baskets of fresh Hong Kong dim sum as well as an impressive variety of Chinese delicacies from the open kitchen, complemented by fine teas from Taiwan and China.

The pork-free dim sum menu features over 25 types of steamed and deep fried dim sum as well as chee cheong fun and porridge, with prices starting from RM8. We ordered all our favorites - the siew mai, har kau, chee cheong fun and egg tarts along with a whole load of other interesting items from their menu.

Although the place is busy, service is pretty efficient and we didn't have to wait too long. The chee cheong fun with prawns (RM14) was silky smooth while the Crispy bean curd skin rolled with prawn and cheese (RM12) was wonderfully crispy, providing a beautiful contrast of textures.

Other items worth trying from the menu are the Steamed scallop and prawn dumpling (RM14), Steamed prawn and spinach dumpling (RM14), Deep fried prawn and mango roll (RM12) and Crispy prawn dumpling served with mayonnaise (RM12). Everything was well-executed and tasty, we thoroughly enjoyed our dim sum lunch here.

Har kau (RM14)

Siew mai (RM13)

For desserts, we had the refreshing Chilled cream of fresh mango with sago and pomelo (RM12) as well as the delightful crisp, golden Deep fried pumpkin ball coated with sesame seeds and filled with lotus paste (RM10). And while you're here, don't forget to have one (or maybe two) Baked egg tarts (RM8), served hot with a delicious custard centre.

Pork-free.

  1. We love dim sum...but most of the stuff is not gluten-free so we have not gone for it for a long time now.
