Restoran Bercham Cheong Kee, Ipoh: Char Siew, Siew Yuk, Roast Duck

On our recent trip to Ipoh, we decided to explore the eateries at the Bercham area due to its close proximity to The Haven Resort where we were staying.

One of the eateries which we visited was Restoran Bercham Cheong Kee which specialises in roasted meats such as char siew, siew yuk, roast duck and roast chicken. Place your order with the lady boss and take a seat.

We ordered char siew, siew yuk and roast duck for 3 pax. You can also help yourself to the soup (self-service). The char siew (BBQ pork) was excellent - we got a mix of lean as well as pun fei sau char siew, which suited us as our kids prefer lean char siew while the adults love the fattier versions. Nicely caramelised, it was so good that we finished it within minutes and wanted to order another portion, unfortunately they were sold out of char siew (by 2pm).




Siew yuk (roasted pork) is also worth trying - flavorful with a superb, crispy crackling. 





I forgot to specify that we only wanted breast meat for the roasted duck - fortunately, we were served mostly roasted duck breast, and it was juicy and tender with a slight herbal taste. Delicious eaten with their chilli dip. Portion was very generous too.

Verdict: Overall a satisfying lunch, will come earlier next time so we can get more of the char siew! :)
