JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur's Kampong Festive Buffet at Feast Village, Starhill Gallery

This year, the famed Kampong Festive Buffet from JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur will once again be presented at Feast Village Starhill Gallery during the holy month of Ramadan.

Set in a kampong ambiance, the buffet spread at Shook!, Feast Village will feature over 138 vibrant, delicious traditional Malay dishes, prepared with passion using classic recipes handed down through the generations.

Chef Rafizan Abdul Rahim and his culinary team have created a menu that ranges from appetisers to salads, soups to mains, desserts and snacks - all inspired by Grandma’s recipes. A range of speciality stalls will be set up such as the Gerai Rojak Buah, Gerai Satay, Gerai Ikan Bakar, Gerai Roti Canai, Gerai Nasi Ayam, Gerai Mee and Gerai Sup.

Start your meal with traditional Ulam-ulaman, served alongside Sambal Belacan, Sambal Tempoyak, Sambal Cincaluk, and even Budu, a classic kampong staple from Kelantan. We also highly recommend the various kerabu on offer - our personal favorites are the appetizing kerabu udang and acar jelatah. 

Don't miss the all-time favourites such as Rendang Daging ‘Tok’, Ikan Patin Masak Tempoyak, Nasi Briyani, Sup Ekor and Bubur Lambuk.  Perfectly tender Rendang Tok!

Of course, there is the must-have Kambing Panggang (roast lamb), hot off the grill.

Other mains you may find here include ikan tenggiri asam pedas, sambal udang petai, masak lemak pucuk manis, pajeri nenas, ikan bakar, satay, ayam panggang sos percik, ikan masin talang masak lemak nenas and murtabak ayam.

For desserts, indulge in local kuih such as Kuih ondeh-ondeh, Kuih lapis, Kuih seri muka, Kuih tepung pelita, Sago gula melaka and Cucur badak or choose from a wide range of local fruits such as langsat, mangosteen and rose apple as well as cendol and ais kacang.

The Kampong Festive Buffet is priced at RM98 nett per adult and RM50 nett per child (12 years and below), and is available from 15 May to 12 June 2018 from 6.30pm to 10pm.

Verdict: One of our favorite Ramadan buffets in KL - reasonably priced with a delicious range of Malay specialties.
