High on Sugar @ THIRTY8, Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur

Enjoy an unforgettable afternoon at THIRTY8 at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur with their "High on Sugar" afternoon tea offer. For pastry lovers, this is what heaven would look like... Decadent, elegant desserts, beautifully laid out at the dessert table, all for your taking.

THIRTY8 is located on the second highest floor of Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, boasting 360 degrees panoramic views of the KL city skyline, including a dramatic full frontal view of the iconic Petronas Twin Towers. The spectacular views and gastronomic feast combine to provide an incredible afternoon indulgence.

From where I sit...

Pastry Chef Ashutosh Kumar impresses with his modern take on classic desserts; he has prepared an excellent array of over thirty types of sweet treats such as cakes, pastries, scones, assorted macarons and a luscious selection of chocolate desserts. I like how fresh fruits are used to give a natural sweetness to each dessert.

Lemon raspberry tarts

Vanilla shortbread with mango jam

Linzertorte

The choux buns were delicious, especially the chocolate salted caramel flavour!;)

Chocolate mousse

Vanilla and raspberry Mille feuille

Strawberry shortcake - light and buttery

Lemon sable breton and chocolate hazelnut cake

Fresh figs cheesecake and Yuzu and bergamot madeleines

Assorted macarons

Scones

Apple tart

Palmiers

Orange moelleux

Rhubarb chiffon with creme chantilly

Desserts galore... flawless execution :)

Guests can also enjoy a wide variety of savouries (prepared to order) from a select menu. Designed to be interspersed with the sweets, these can be ordered on a free-flow basis to prolong your afternoon session and set you up for even more desserts. Our favorites here were the Shepherd's pie, seafood dumplings and potato puffs.

Shepherd's pie

Wok-fried carrot cake

Assorted dim sum

Black Angus beef meatballs

The High On Sugar experience also comes with your choice of freshly brewed coffee, flavoured coffee and Ronnefeldt tea.

There will also be interactive live stations featuring Chinese noodles, beef and vegetable sliders as well as homemade ice cream and sorbets. Four types of noodles were on offer during our visit: spicy dry noodle, minced chicken dry noodle, seaweed fish ball noodle and wantan noodle soup. We tried the spicy dry noodle - it tasted similar to a chilli pan mee. Love the heat from the spicy sauce, yummy!

Beef slider was delicious too!

Salted caramel ice cream sandwich

Deconstructed Black Forest dessert from the live station

It pays to be an early bird... seating is on a first-come-first-serve basis... so come early if you want a table with the Twin Towers view.

Twinning at the highest level.. I just can't get enough of this gorgeous view!
