Porco Macau Pork Chop Bun, Lot 10 Hutong, KL

One of the most famous snacks from Macau is the pork chop bun. Good news.. KL-ites can now enjoy this delicacy at Porco Macau Pork Chop Buns, located in Malaysia's Heritage Food Village, Lot 10 Hutong.

Macau Pork Chop Bun is a coalition of Portuguese and Macanese culinary heritage and has often been described as the Macanese version of a hamburger. Helming the kitchen at Porco is Chef Yoke, who learnt the art of making this Macanese specialty from a veteran who had spent his life cooking in a famous pork chop bun restaurant in Macau.

Chef Yoke with her signature Macau Pork Chop Bun

Traditionally, the hand-selected pork chops are pounded with a mallet to tenderize and flatten it; this will also enhance flavour absorption. The pounded meat is then marinated with rice wine, brandy, Popo soy sauce, spices and other secret ingredients for almost a day. The marinated meat is then deep fried until golden brown and sandwiched between two lightly toasted, soft buns. To keep the taste authentic, Chef Yoke sticks to tradition and serves it just the way you would find it in Macau.

Simplicity at its best, the pork chop was flavorful, juicy and tender.... we LOVED it!

Crusty yet soft buns :)

Other than the awesome Macau pork chop bun, you can also enjoy the same pork chop with either egg noodles or rice.

The pork chop pairs really well with the thin, springy egg noodles - this is in fact my favorite way of eating it. Macau Pork Chop Noodle (RM13.90)

Oodles of noodles

Macau Pork Chop Rice with Egg (RM14.90) - also comes with a side of curry broth.. the pork chop tastes great dipped in the curry sauce :)

Porco also offers Macau curry fish ball (RM6.90), featuring the finest fish balls made using wolf herring fish (sai toh). Wonderfully bouncy, accompanied with a typical HK & Macau-style curry broth.

Macau Milk Tea (RM5.90)
