Lemon Garden, Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur

The refurbished Lemon Garden at Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur is back with a brand new look and a refreshed menu. It has undergone renovation for four months and reopened in February 2017, reaffirming its position as one of the best buffets in town.

The main restaurant of the hotel received an exciting facelift, designed by Bond Design Studio Inc from Japan. The interior of the restaurant is elegantly decked with modern, contemporary designs which exudes a warm and sophisticated ambiance - I especially loved the yellow light orbs. Guests seated within the air-conditioned restaurant can dine with a panoramic view of the beautiful outdoor garden with a koi fish pond and water fountain.

Lemon Garden is well-known for its extensive buffet selection and open kitchens, where local and international specialties are prepared a la minute. We recently visited the all-new restaurant for its International Lunch Buffet.

Check out this video highlighting the best of Lemon Garden's buffet spread :) Please subscribe to my YouTube channel if you liked it!

Begin your meal at the Seafood station, host to an array of seafood on ice (fresh oysters from US, clams, mussels, yabbies, and king prawns), sashimi and sushi. On Fridays and Saturdays, there will be an enhanced seafood selection at the Seafood Dinner Buffet which includes Alaskan king crab, lobsters and scallops.

One of the unique addition to the kitchen is a giant earthern urn at the Chinese station, used to prepare a selection of double boiled soups. Certainly not something you will find in everyday buffets. Double-boiled soups are nourishing, so make sure you get yourself a bowl. A must-try is the Double boiled black chicken with ginseng soup.

Other noteworthy items from the Chinese station are Peking duck roll, Roast duck and chicken, and Steamed cod with superior soy sauce and Dim sum.

There is also a noodles corner, which serves hot off-the-stove noodles such as Nyonya Laksa, one of the Memory Makers here at Lemon Garden.

The Asian theatre kitchen is equipped with a hot tandoori oven, and will feature authentic dishes such as satay, murtabak, chicken tikka, tandoori chicken, naan bread, roti canai, whole baked Malay red snapper with curry and more.

From the Western kitchen, you will find a wide selection of salads, cheese, roast beef, glazed lamb ribs and quiche. Pizzas are made using a wood-fire oven and the interactive pasta station allows guests to personalise their preferred pasta type and sauce.

The Dessert Pavilion is home to an array of delectable desserts. There are lots to choose from, including an assortment of cakes and tarts, ice cream, macarons, local Malay kuihs, ais kacang , waffles, crepes and chocolate fountain. Not to be missed here are the Memory Makers: Durian cake and Jackfruit cream puff. I love the durian cake which was light with a delicious durian cream.... wonderfully sinful!
