Restoran Seoul Korea, Taman Desa, KL

Other than Nak Won, there is another Korean BBQ restaurant in Taman Desa just a stone's throw away - Restoran Seoul Korea. I have heard from my cousins and friends that there is always a queue for this restaurant, some of them queuing for as long as an hour to get a table in this restaurant. So I had to go and see what the fuss was all about - but of course being a person who doesn't like to queue, I opted to go early (opening time is 5.30pm and we ensured we were there by 5.25pm). True enough, there was already a queue forming all the way from the restaurant and down the stairs. Luckily though, we managed to get in the first seating :)

Over here, the restaurant is supervised by the Korean owner. From my observation, he is the only one who takes orders from customers too. As soon as we were seated, the service staff brings over the complimentary ban chan as well as water to our table.

We ordered 3 types of meat - dae ji yang-nem sam-gyoub-sal (RM28 - pork belly marinated in spicy homemade sauce), sam gyoub sal (RM28 - pork belly slices) and mok dung sim (RM28 - pork shoulder slice). They brought the meats to our table to show us and then proceeded to cook it at the cooking station behind us.

While waiting for our meats, we tucked in to the 9 different types of ban chan (side dishes) served to us. I have to say their ban chan is really nice - there was kimchi, cucumber kimchi, dried seaweed, seaweed, thin vermicelli, lotus root, marinated meat, peanuts/anchovies and ladies finger. The ban chans are refillable, so we went back for seconds. They also serve a complimentary seaweed soup (which is often served during birthdays in the Korean series).

Before long, our cooked meats arrive. As usual, lettuce, gochujang, garlic slices and green chillies is served together with the meat. I like the pork belly best, followed closely by the marinated pork belly (the sauce was really flavorful), and lastly, the pork shoulder. I found most of the pork shoulder meat to be slightly tough, however the parts with some fats were tasty enough.

When we left, there was still a long queue waiting to get in, so it is true that there is always a queue to get in here. If you do not like queuing, I do advise you to come early, or go to the nearby Nak Won as an alternative.
