Pho Vietz, Sri Petaling, KL

Pho Vietz has been on my radar for a while, and one weekend, we finally braved the traffic and headed to its Sri Petaling outlet. This is their second outlet, with the first one being at Atria Shopping Gallery and a third one recently opened at Empire Shopping Gallery.

During our visit, this outlet was super busy, however service was pretty efficient. From the menu, we learnt that their lead chef, Kenny Ton Ngoc Hiep is a true blood Vietnamese, with over 20 years experience in Vietnamese cuisine, hence you can be assured of the authenticity of their dishes.

On their menu, you will find traditional street dishes such as pho, banh mi, banh cuon, Vietnamese coffee and dessert.  We ordered one appetizer to share, and a main course each. First to arrive was the Vietnamese Spring Roll (RM8.50 for 3 pcs), crispy, deep fried spring rolls with minced pork filling.  The spring rolls were topped with some deep fried pork lard as well as crushed peanuts, and served with nuoc cham dipping sauce.

I was happy to see pho (beef noodle soup - RM17.90) on the menu, as I have been craving for it for a while. The pho soup is made by boiling imported Australian beef with various spices and then topped with rice noodles, beansprouts, fresh herbs, red chillies, thinly sliced beef and beef balls. Squeeze some lime over and enjoy! I definitely enjoyed this - the soup was clear yet very flavorful and comforting. Absolutely pho-bulous!

Hubby had the Famous Vietnamese Baguette (RM10.90), aka banh mi with a variety of fresh and pickled fillings. The baguette is not as crispy and light as this other Vietnamese place, however the filling here, consisting of pork liver pate, meatloaf, roasted pork, pork ear terrine, coriander and pickled vege was very tasty. Overall, an enjoyable banh mi.

  1. I love Vietnamese. We have Thai here but not Vietnamese. There were one or two, I remember, but they did not last very long. :(
