Beer Pairing Dinner @ Four Points Singapore

Last week, I had the pleasure of joining the media familiarization trip to Four Points by Sheraton Singapore, Riverview. On our day of arrival, we were treated to a delicious Welcome Dinner in the Robertson Room, with a specially crafted food and beer pairing menu prepared by Executive Chef Lewis Tay and his talented kitchen team.

To start, we were served the Roasted Honey Glazed "Char Siew" Guinea Fowl and Foie Gras Terrine, with poached pear and toasted walnut brioche. My favorite dish of the evening, this was paired with Kirin Ichiban. As there were non-pork eaters at the dinner, the chef used guinea fowl in lieu of pork, and glazes it with char siew sauce. We were told that game meat such as guinea fowl works well with Kirin. The accompanying foie gras terrine was rich and smooth, I absolutely loved it. What a lovely start to our meal :)

Next, we had the Roasted Butternut Squash Soup with Chinese-style roasted duck, and a feta cheese-walnut croquette. This was paired with the Tall Tale Pale Ale, Four Points Singapore's exclusive craft beer.  Tall Tale Pale Ale is only available at The Best Brew in Four Points Singapore - you can't find this anywhere else in the world. The beer was light, and easy to drink with a mild finish.

For main course, we had the Pan Fried Cod Fish with a cranberry and clam risotto, shellfish tomato dressing, and mussel cream. The fish was beautifully cooked, very fresh and flaky, and the accompanying sauce was delicious! This was paired with Erdinger Weissbier.

What a pleasant surprise! After we finished our mains, the lights were dimmed and the staff came out with a birthday slice for me... thank you! :) The strawberry shortcake was really good, btw! Available at The Eatery.

Finally for dessert, we had the Manjari Chocolate Ginger Gateau with raspberry jelly and chantilly cream. A wonderful, sweet end to our meal!

Thank you Four Points Singapore for having me! :) Stay tuned for the hotel review post and more.
