Loong Sifu Bamboo Noodle House 龍师傅, Happy Garden, KL

Wantan mee... one of my favorite things to eat! And last week, we went to "Wai Sek Kai" at Happy Garden (Taman Gembira near OUG) in search of great wantan mee. Loong Sifu 龍师傅 Bamboo Noodle House is well-known for its bamboo noodles. The place was packed with customers, so there was about a 35-40 minute wait for our noodles.

While waiting, we ordered a breakfast set (RM5) which comes with toast, half boiled eggs and coffee/tea. The toast was good, nice and crisp :)

As the restaurant name suggests, the noodles are Hong Kong-style bamboo wantan noodles. We ordered 1 prawn roe 香港虾子面 (RM6 for small) wantan mee as well as 2 bowls of char siu wantan mee 叉烧云吞面 (RM6 for small). The noodles were well worth the wait - springy and toothsome with the wonderful QQ texture.

I actually like the prawn roe noodle here, more than the one at Mak's Chee, as they serve theirs here with a little sauce making the noodles smoother and more flavorful. The char siew here is pretty decent, which Baby D loves and had no problems lapping it up. Each bowl of noodles also comes with 3 pieces of wantan.

To find this place, look for Siewbao Wong (shophouse), and then you will see a banner of a man riding a bamboo pole with the words "Loong Sifu Bamboo Noodle House" on the opposite side of the road.

Opening times: 7am to 4pm.

Price: Total for noodles (RM18), drinks (RM9).
