Restoran One Yulek, Cheras, KL

*Update (April 2019): CKT stall has moved to Restoran Sweetland.

This is one of my favorite places to drop by for breakfast in the mornings. Located in Taman Len Sen, it used to be called Kedai Makanan dan Minuman Yulek, however it changed from 2 shoplots to 1, as one of the shop owners wanted to reclaim their store. Now, it's called Restoran One Yulek, and houses my favorite CKT aunty, another noodle stall, the drink stall and the chicken rice stall.

Here, you can find a great plate of char koay teow (RM5.50) or a fantastic bowl of curry laksa (RM5.50). As I love them both, I usually alternate between the two. The char koay teow has lots of wok hei - we like it extra spicy and sometimes we would also request for extra cockles (siham) for an extra 50 sen. The aunty shucks the cockles every morning.

Char koay teow: Flat rice noodles, fried with beansprouts, chee yau char (pork lard fritters), chilli paste, prawns and cockles. A super satisfying breakfast or brunch!

Ah, and the curry laksa is absolutely delightful. Rich and flavorful, the curry laksa is laden with ingredients such as poached chicken or homemade fishballs, deep fried pig's skin, tofu puff, beansprouts, cockles and noodles (meehoon or yellow noodles). Not only is the food here delicious, it's super affordable too! There's not many places whereby you can still find a great plate or bowl of noodles for RM5.50.

From the drinks stall, we like to order their Hainanese kaya toast (super crisp) and we recently also tried their half boiled eggs which were done extremely well. Their coffee and teas are nice, or if you wanna cool down on a hot day, try the calamansi sour plum drink (shin mui kat chai) which is refreshingly good. Usually, 1 coffee, 1 tea, 2 eggs and 2 toasts costs us RM9.80.

Other than that, we also frequent the chicken rice stall often. We usually get the roast chicken (breast) with roast pork (siew yuk) (RM6.50 per pack). The chicken rice is fragrant and delicious, even our son loves it. The chicken is always moist and tender, with a nice roasted skin, and the siew yuk has a lovely, crispy crackling. And the accompany chilli dip is good. If you like, you can also request for soup (which is free); the soup is boiled using chicken bones and old cucumber. They do a nice roast duck here too.

Most stalls are opened from 6am til 2pm. Closed on Mondays.

*Price Update 2018: RM6 for the noodles.
