Afternoon Tea @ The Tea Lounge, The Majestic KL

Indulging in afternoon tea is a great, relaxing way to spend a Saturday afternoon. One weekend, Hubby and I went to The Majestic KL for their English afternoon tea with a Malaysian twist. Guests have three venues to choose from: afternoon tea in the Colonial Cafe or Tea Lounge (RM58 nett per person), The Drawing Room (RM78 nett per person) and The Orchid Conservatory (RM108 per person).

When we called to make reservations, we asked if we could be seated at The Tea Lounge, rather than Colonial Cafe, as we have done afternoon tea in the latter a few times. We were informed that seating at The Tea Lounge is on a first-come-first-serve basis, so we ensured that we arrived at the hotel before 3pm. I was delighted that we finally managed to get a spot at The Tea Lounge, a beautiful, elegant setting for afternoon tea.

The Tea Lounge in the Majestic Wing features an old-fashioned grid ceiling with classic cut-glass lighting and an array of comfortable arm chairs with subdued lighting from table lamps. A pianist performs here daily except Monday.

The afternoon tea is served in an elegant three-tier stand and includes a selection of sweet and savoury items and a pot of house-blend tea (BOH). Two types of scones are served - plain and raisin, served with clotted cream and strawberry jam. Other items, including dainty sandwiches, pastries and hot items may change depending on what the kitchen team come up with.

Service here is excellent

Scones, clotted cream and jam :)

Hot items with a Malaysian twist - croquette, lamb curry puff and fried mantau with chicken

Orange chocolate cake, caramel lemon choux bun, and more - so yummy!

  2. Are the items in the afternoon tea set the same for all three venues on a typical day? Certainly a nice and relaxing place for some tea :)

For kids 3-12 years old, there is a special Kids Afternoon Tea Set, priced at RM30 nett for weekdays and RM35 nett for weekends. The set will include a mini burger, hot drink, cute macaron, cakes, choco lolly, gummy bears and savouries.

  6. Hi,
Just want to clarify how the pricing works. If there are 4 of us in the group, total we would pay RM280 for all 4 for the weekend. How many tea sets do we get? Do we only get one if we made reservations for one table? That seems to not make sense, but is that the case? If such is the case, it would make more sense to split the reservation into two. However we will end up sitting at different tables?

    1. Hi Sheena, what you see in the photo is for 2 pax. Usually if there are 4 pax, 2 sets of the above will be served to your table. However, you can double check with the hotel when u make your booking. Hope this helps.
