Ramadan is just a month away now. This Ramadan, The Resort Cafe at Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa as well as the brand new Cafe West at Sunway Pyramid Hotel West will be enticing diners will over 400 authentic and traditional local specialities from 6 June to 5 July 2016 (from 6.00pm to 10.30pm daily). The buffet will be priced at RM168 nett per adult and RM68 nett per child (aged between 6 to 12 years old) at both restaurants.

The nightly buffet spread will feature local culture-infused dishes from Malaysia and around the region at The Resort Cafe's 'Bustling Asian Food Hall', while over at Cafe West, the 'Live Food Bazaar' will showcase action stations of local seasonal favorites and kawah stations. Along with all the dishes, the chefs will be sharing their favorite recipes for the much sought-after condiment, homemade sambals. In total, there will be 25 types of sambal (8 types will be served daily on a rotational basis) for a true sambal adventure.

Five of the must-have house specials are sambal belacan bonda, sambal cabai hijau, sambal petai, sambal kelapa, and sambal kelapa pudina

One of the favorites at The Resort Cafe is the churrasco - here you will find tender and juicy grilled king prawns, Hokkaido squid, chicken wings, fish and assorted vegetables. These have been marinated with lemon, salt and herbs and are freshly grilled on large skewers for diners to enjoy.

The highlight at The Resort Cafe will be at the carving station, featuring the Roasted Jumbo Beef Leg and Venison. The 28kg whole leg is boiled for 2 hours, then marinated with local spices and mixed herbs before being slow-roasted for 4 hours.

The most sought-after dish at the dinner special last year was The Resort Cafe's Sup Gearbox Turbo - the bone marrow is slow cooked for 8 hours in a large cauldron for a rich, aromatic soup.

The traditional cheong fun gets a unique twist here at The Resort Cafe - the rice noodle (chee cheong fun) is filled with either beef rendang or chicken satay. We like it a lot.

See this video on how to make cheong fun from start to finish (view in full screen here)

Noodle lovers are in for a treat with a wide variety of soup and gravy-based noodles at the noodle station, including mee rojak, mee bandung Sumatra, laksa lemak, laksa Johor, prawn mee and pan mee. I had the laksa Johor and the gravy is delicious and thick.
