Angcle Peoh, Kota Kemuning - Authentic Penang Asam Laksa

After our morning swim, we went to Angcle Peoh to have some Penang delights from Ayer Itam. Angcle Peoh is well known for their asam laksa and the fact that they have opened their doors in the vicinity of KL means that we do not have to travel all the way to Penang to enjoy this delicacy.

Angcle Peoh have opened their doors in two locations, one in Kota Kemuning and one in Bukit Tinggi, Klang. We went to the Kota Kemuning branch.

Diving in

The name is a play on the “Ang” surname of its founder whose mother sold Assam Laksa in Penang in the 1950s.

Air-conditioned and clean

Asam laksa (RM8). Lovely thick and spicy broth and very generous with the fish. We thoroughly enjoyed this dish and we can see why it is a signature dish of Angcle Peoh.

Rojak (RM6.50)

Char koay teow with duck egg (RM10). A pretty good version of Penang's famous food and source of many "best of..." discussions. The fragrant duck egg really do add extra oomph to the dish.

ABC Ice Kacang (RM5.30)

Non-halal.

Opening times: 9am to 8pm daily.

Price: Total bill RM46.80.

Location: Restoran Angcle Peoh, 27 Jalan AB 31/AB, Kota Kemuning, Seksyen 31, 40460 Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia.
