Private Romantic Dinner @ The Andaman, Langkawi

A couple of weeks ago, we were at The Andaman, Langkawi for a romantic couple getaway. One of the highlights of our trip was the private romantic dinner by the beach, specially arranged by the hotel and chefs.

With a beachfront setting on the tranquil Datai Bay, our dining venue could not be any more perfect. Datai Bay was named the 9th Best Beach in the World by National Geographic in 2011. Our butler for the evening, Rendy kept us amused with his lighthearted chatter and exceptional service. Not to mention helping us take some great photos before the sun set for us to remember the evening by.

There are several packages to choose from for the exclusive Romantic Dinner by The Andaman Bay.The menu features a 5-course dinner, limited to only two tables per evening. The chef selected the "Western" package for us, and to our pleasant surprise, the menu showcased many of my favorite ingredients.

We started our dinner with an amuse bouche of chef's speciality Chilled Shooter. Executive Chef Fahdrul Malek mixed the chilled gazpacho with Alaskan crab tableside for us to enjoy. An appetizing, refreshing start to our meal.

One of my favorite dishes of the evening is the pan seared foie gras with smoked duck breast, mango salsa and a balsamic reduction. The combination worked perfectly with each other, and left me hankering for more.

The taste of the pumpkin chowder was accentuanted by the tom yam, which also gave it a slight spicy, sourish kick. The chowder was served with a prawn timbale.

Before our main course arrived, we were served a lychee sorbet. For him, the chef has prepared the char grilled Wagyu beef with tomato olive salsa, truffle potato puree and baby carrot while for her, it is a pan seared Chilean seabass with Oriental cous cous, baby vegetables and green curry foam. Both competently prepared, though being a thoughtful husband, Hubby swapped the beef with me since he knows I love Wagyu :P

For a sweet ending, we were served a chocolate ball with passion fruit mousse. A hot chocolate sauce is poured over the ball to reveal a berry compote centre.

Went back to our suite to find this gorgeous macaron tree waiting for us :)

It was a romantic evening of bonding for us, catching up with each other while enjoying the good food and serenaded by the sounds of the sea and sand in our feet. Highly recommended for couples seeking a unique, romantic dining experience.

*All food photos taken with my iPhone with torch, as the setting was pretty dark after sunset.
