Martin Yan's Taste of Asia @ The Westin KL

A couple of days ago, I had the privilege of meeting celebrity chef Martin Yan for the second time, this time at Five 5enses in The Westin KL. He is currently in Kuala Lumpur promoting his "Taste of Vietnam" show. I grew up watching his cooking shows on TV, so it was great to see him again and especially entertaining to watch his amazing knife and cooking skills!

Yan, Yen & Yen's Hubby :P

Before the show, we had some time to kill - let's snap some photos ;)

We were served a 6-course lunch menu, featuring Vietnamese dishes, starting with the Pomelo and Prawn Delight, and Trio of Seafood Fresh Rice Rolls with 2 dipping sauces.

This was followed by a Hot and Sour Pineapple Fish Soup - clear and light, and very appetizing.

In between courses, Chef Martin Yan demonstrated his amazing knife skills... a delight to watch!

Watched how he removed the pepper core... Effortless.... Yan can do it! ;)

Chef Martin Yan demonstrated this dish to the guests, Wok Fried "Shaking Beef", a very popular Vietnamese dish.

One of my favorite dishes of the afternoon, the Char-grilled spring chicken over a bed of mixed greens. The chicken was well-marinated, tender and flavorful. Enjoyed this very much.

We ended our meal with a dessert with theatrics.... the Sweet Jackfruit in Sago Coconut Milk was served over a bowl filled with dry ice.

Autographed menu for all the guests and Hubby also won a signed apron from the chef ;)

  2. Wish I could have that same honour. Watched his shows faithfully those good ol' RTM days - on Wok with Yan...and Yan can cook.
