Neroteca, Lorong Ceylon, KL

Neroteca is a non-halal restaurant and deli owned by The Nero Group, specializing in authentic and rustic Italian dishes. The restaurant is located in Lorong Ceylon in Seri Bukit Celyon serviced residences. You can park at Invito Hotel Suites and walk over to Neroteca. There is also another Neroteca outlet in Plaza Damansara.

The restaurant has a cosy ambiance; you can find walls filled with wine bottles, pasta and sauce, hanging salami and ham as well as copper pots and pans. The service is friendly, making our dining experience an enjoyable one.

The menu consists of gourmet breakfast which is available from 9am to 12pm on weekdays and 9am to 5pm on weekends, as well as antipasti, cold cut platters, salads, pasta, pizzas, main courses and desserts. For the full menu, see here. If you are unsure what to have, speak to their friendly and knowledgable outlet manager, Gabriell who can help you out with some suggestions.

We tried the Neroteca Breakfast (RM66) which came with 2 grilled sausages, 3 fried eggs, honey ham (prosciutto cotto), pork bacon, lentils, asparagus and toma cheese with toast and more ham. We were told that every week, they buy imported meats and cheeses from Italy. The pork sausages were  seasoned with fennel, which is typical of an Italian sausage. We also loved the lentil stew, which has been slow-cooked for 4-5 hours - this is in lieu of baked beans usually found in big breakfasts. Overall, very yummy and good enough to share between two.

The Fritto Misto (RM35) features deep fried calamari, spanish baby cuttlefish, white bait fish and prawn with a tartare dip. My fav is the baby cuttlefish which was super crispy. The calamari would be more enjoyable if the batter was more crispy.

Prosciutto & Melon (RM25) is a classic Italian appetizer which we love. The French rock melon was sweet and is lovely paired with the Parma ham, which has been cured for 24 months.

The Gnocchi al Gorgonzola & Speck (RM36) was rich and comforting, with soft potato gnocchi served with a creamy cheese sauce, prosciutto and steamed zucchini.

We also had the Costoletta & Porchetta (RM89) which came with a thick slice of pork ham and pork chop, both grilled with rosemary and garlic oil. This was served with a mixed salad and lentils.

Desserts were absolutely delightful - we had the tiramisu (RM21) as well as panna cotta (RM25). There's not many places in KL which makes tiramisu the way I like it, but Neroteca's one certainly ticked all the right boxes. We also love the light and smooth panna cotta which is made using pistachio and served with a tangy berries and balsamic sauce.

They also do a 3-course set lunch for RM39 as well as a Sunday Brunch buffet from 12pm to 3pm, priced at RM115 per person or RM210 with alcohol (Prosecco. white and red wine).

Thank you to Neroteca for having us.
