10 Fun Things To Do With Kids at Genting Highlands

In conjunction with the school holidays, we were up in Genting Highlands over the weekend for the Genting International Children's Festival 2015 which will be happening from 30 May until 14 June 2015. Lots and lots of fun activities to be had for the children and the whole family :).

Here are some of the highlights of our trip (enjoy the photos!):

1. Genting Skyway Cable Car Ride
This is the kids second time on the Genting Skyway cable car and they were just as excited as they were the first time around.

So scenic

Taking family selfies in the cable car is a must ;)

2. SnowWorld
Located on Level T2A of First World Plaza, I was really looking forward to this as it would be our kids first encounter with snow. Furthermore, from now until 31 July 2015, there will be 50 penguin exhibits placed strategically around Snow World.

Do remember to dress up warm cos temperatures are as low as -6°C in there! (Bring a scarf and woolly hat for your kids - jackets, boots and gloves are provided with the ticket price).

Tickets are priced at RM31.80 per adult, RM26.50 per child, and RM106 per family of 4 for a 40-minute session.

The only place in Malaysia where I get to wear my Ugg boots ;)

Kids had fun on the snow sledge

3. Behind the Scenes Tour
This was not only entertaining, but educational as well as we got an insight of what goes behind the scenes at the resort. Tickets are priced at RM28 per person.

First stop was the Genting International ShowRoom (GISR), whereby we went backstage whereby the kids got to experience first hand how the lighting and sound effects are created.

Next, we returned to Snow World and was given a lesson about how snow is formed as well as making fluffy snow :) Kids sure had fun doing that!

Finally, we went for the See, Do & Eat Workshop whereby we get to make cute bento lunchboxes as well as decorate doughnuts.

4. Meet the Clowns
From 3 to 7pm daily, you can meet the clowns at Clowns Boulevard, located at Genting Grand open car park. The clowns will entertain you with their antics as well as make balloon sculptures for your kids ;)

5. Candy Land
Another special for the Children's Festival is Candy Land, located at the Padini Walkway in First World Plaza. There is a giant maze with lots of interesting activities (tic tac toe, spin the wheel, and interesting facts) as well as decorating your own popsicle and making a badge for a small fee.

Hubby made one for me too :)

6. Buskers Performances
Lots of free public performances throughout the day at Times Square Stage & First World Plaza, such as a comedic fire manipulator, acrobatic stilt dancer and juggler.

7. Dinosaurland, Rainforest
Be entertained by the short skit by the Dinosaurland crew, followed by a photo session with the baby dinosaurs.

8. Meet & Greet with Rio characters at Horizon 50
So excited to be able to meet Blu and Jewel, the first Blue Macaw (Rio) mascots in the world. There will be Meet & Greet sessions with the Rio characters (Blu & Jewel or Nico & Pedro) on June 14, 20, 21, 27 and 28.

Fans can also take a creative photo at the Rio backdrop (at Horizon 50 located at Genting International Convention Centre) and post photo on Resorts World Genting Facebook page and be in the running to win Limited Edition Fox World Premiums.

There are also free movie screeenings of Rio and Rio 2.

9. iLuminate Dance Show
Really impressed with this show - dancers are all dressed in black as they fuse music, dance and technology using synchronized light displays for various effects. This 1-hour show runs Mon-Sat at 8.30pm with an additional 4pm show on Sat and Sun. Ticket prices start from RM88. Not to be missed!

10. Bowling
Our kids enjoyed their first bowling game up at Genting Bowl in First World Plaza. They even have glow in the dark bowling after 6pm.

Location: Resorts World Genting, 69000 Genting Highlands, Pahang.

  1. love looking at your family getaway photos ... this would make a nice online album for both you and the kids to look through and recall the experiences with laughter and smiles when they're older! :)
