Family Fun @ Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore

A few weeks ago, we visited Resorts World Sentosa and what a brilliant time we had there! Located on Singapore's resort island of Sentosa, Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) is Asia's ultimate destination resort spanning 49 hectares. It is home to key attractions such as the region's first-and-only Universal Studios theme park (USS), S.E.A. Aquarium, six unique hotels, celebrity chef restaurants, and more.

Upon arrival at Changi airport, we were whisked to RWS by hotel transfer. The Festive Hotel was our home for the next 3D2N . This hotel is fantastic for families as it is family and child-friendly and is only a 10-minute walk away from the main attractions.

Check-in was promptly handled and within 15 minutes, we were up in our room on the 7th Floor. At check-in, families with children will receive a kids pack (which includes a hand towel, mini rugby ball, folding fan and cute penguin toothbrush).

Over at Festive Hotel, guests can choose between the Deluxe or Deluxe Family King rooms. We stayed in the latter which includes a king-sized bed, sofa bed (which folds out to a double bed) as well as a loft bed. The kids were absolutely thrilled with the loft bed,  a pretty special feature which made our children's stay extra memorable. The Deluxe Family Room can comfortably sleep 2 adults and 2 children. There is a large LCD TV with 28 channels including a few kids channel such as Cartoon Network. There is also a bathtub which means fun bathtimes for the kids! :)  Bath slippers come in children sizes here as well - so cute!

The swimming pool at Festive Hotel is located on the 3rd Floor. Fortunately, we had the time to swim and play at the pool on our final morning here - our kids had a splashing good time in the pool with their daddy while mummy relaxed and lounged at the pool side cabanas enjoying the lovely weather and lush greenery. They have 3 pools here - adult pool(1.2m), kids pool and even a baby pool! There is also a wet play area with water guns and spraying hoops. Guests staying at Festive Hotel are also granted access to vicinity hotel facilities such as Hard Rock Hotel's free form pool, and gym.

Breakfast is served every morning from 7.30am to 10.30am daily; guests can choose either Palio in Hotel Michael or Starz Restaurant in Hard Rock Hotel. The breakfast fare at both hotels are similar (eggs, sausages, meehoon, nasi lemak, porridge, fresh fruits, salad, bread), with the main difference being the dining ambiance.

On our first day here, we visited the S.E.A. Aquarium, one of the world's largest aquarium which is home to more than 100,000 marine animals of over 800 species. We were mesmerised by the sea creatures at the Ocean Dome, especially the majestic manta rays, goliath grouper and largetooth sawfish. I was particularly taken by the cute jellyfish and sea dragons. Back at home, we often play a card game whereby the main characters are sea animals, so it was good for the kids to see them in real life! (mummy, look at the hammerhead shark! Look, it's Nemo.)We also enjoyed the Discovery Touch Pool, as we got to touch the knobbly sea star, sea cucumber and shark egg shells there.

A visit to Resorts World Sentosa is not complete without spending a day with the family at Universal Studios Singapore (USS). There are seven zones in USS, including Hollywood, New York, Madagascar, Far Far Away, The Lost World, Ancient Egypt and Sci-Fi City. There are loads of exciting "Ride the Movies" rides based on blockbuster films and television series - we managed to get on most of the rides and our favorites were Madagascar: A Crate Adventure, Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase, Canopy Flyer and Enchanted Airways.

We were thrilled that we got to try the new Puss in Boots' Giant Journey ride at Far Far Away themed zone. It was launched in April 2015, and is the world’s first Puss In Boots Suspended Roller Coaster. The two-minute ride will provide guests with thrills and excitement as Puss In Boots and Kitty Softpaws go in search of the legendary golden eggs. Guests can experience sensations of flight and anti-gravity as they navigate their way through the castle. It is recommended to get the Universal Express tickets so that you can skip the long queues.

Other than the rides, we also loved the Meet and Greet sessions - we got to meet the adorable Minions, Ernie from Sesame Street, as well as our kid's favorite Penguins of Madagascar. :) You can get hold of the show schedule at the entrance, so that you can plan your day ahead.

On select Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, there will also be a Hollywood Dreams Parade which brings to life your favorite blockbuster movies and beloved characters such as Marilyn Monroe, Madagascar, Revenge of the Mummy®, Jurassic Park and Shrek on magnificent floats. Definitely not to be missed!

On our last day in RWS, we also visited the popular Trick Eye Museum. Trick Eye is short for ‘Trick of the eye’, which refers to an art technique that turns two-dimensional paintings into three-dimensional images through the use of optical illusions. 2D paintings on the museum walls, floors and ceilings appear to pop out of the surface and come to life. There are 6 family-based zones to be explored here. The whole family, especially our kids had fun posing for photos here! Click here to view more photos.

There are a myriad of fantastic restaurants here at RWS to entice your discerning palates - from celebrity chef restaurants to local flavours, Chinese, Japanese, Italian, French and more. During our stay, we dined in Palio, Malaysian Food Street, Mel's Drive-in, Feng Shui Inn and Syun.  Please click on restaurant names for detailed restaurant reviews.

Palio - Italian dining

Mel's Drive-In (American Burgers)

Feng Shui Inn - authentic fine dining Cantonese cuisine

Syun - Japanese fine dining
