Hotel Review: Governor Suite @ The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

I know it's still early January, but it's never too early to start planning for your next staycation ;) One I would highly recommend to couples looking for a romantic staycation in KL is The Majestic Kuala Lumpur.

It was one of the best staycations we had last year. We first enjoyed one night in the Junior Suite in the new Tower Wing with the kids and then another night at the beautiful refurbished Majestic Wing as a couple. Hence, we got to experience the best of both worlds. ;)

Governor Suite

Built in the 1930s, the original hotel was one of the great landmarks of Kuala Lumpur in its time. Now, the Majestic Wing has been restored to its former glory (and more) and its rooms has been converted to 48 luxurious suites.  The Majestic Wing is exclusively for adults only, hence our kids were sent home to spend the night with their grandparents.

A full butler service is offered to the guests staying in this wing to ensure guests have an unforgettable experience. We were greeted by our butler and offered a cold towel and iced lemon tea each, and then escorted to the Governor Suite. Check-in is carried out swiftly in the comfort of our suite. The 53 sqm (570 sqf) suite has a bedroom, separate living area and a bathroom. We immediately fell in love with the decor and how opulent yet comfortable this suite feels.

Classic yet modern, that is how I would describe the decor here. It is the perfect blend of old and new. The plush seating area was where we spent most of our time, enjoying each other's company and perusing the complimentary mini-bar. Guests can also enjoy complimentary wifi in the suites and throughout the property. A good night's sleep is guaranteed with a comfortable king-sized bed and blackout curtains in the suite.

The clawfoot bathtub and chequered tiles in the bathroom are some of the details which we love about the suite. The bathtub also comes with a separate rain shower, but one simply cannot resist a soak in that gorgeous bathtub. Looking out from the bathroom window, we get a lovely view of the grand Mughal-inspired railway administration building.

Complimentary mini bar included in your room rate

Pistachio nuts - yummy!

Guests staying in the Majestic Wing will be offered an in-room butler served Continental breakfast. Simply inform your personal butler on your preferred breakfast time and dine in the comfort of your own room. An array of flaky, warm pastries , fresh fruits and freshly squeezed orange juice ensured our morning got off to a great start.

Enjoying a leisurely breakfast in the comfort of our suite

Not only was the suite spectacular, we thoroughly enjoyed the other facilities too. We enjoyed a morning swim at the pool located in front of The Majestic Spa, exclusively for guests of the spa and those staying in The Majestic Wing only. For a pampering spa treatment, try the Malaya Golden Chersonese couples spa experience (read more about our spa experience here). Do not forget to visit the Colonial Cafe for some classic colonial fare in a beautiful setting. I especially love it here in the afternoon when there is plenty natural sunlight and soak in the lovely ambiance.

  7. Breakfast provided? Ooooo....like royalty! Usually the Brits would have a male butler, right? The ladies are the maids. I love the butler in "The Nanny".
