Set Lunch @ Madisons, Jalan Bangkung, Bangsar, KL

During #BabySumoBirthdayWeek, one of the restaurants that we visited for lunch was Madisons in Jalan Bangkung, Bangsar. After browsing their menu, we decided to go for their 3-course lunch priced at RM40++, which is made up of items from their regular a la carte menu in smaller portions.

The restaurant interior is simple and modern with an open kitchen concept. I especially liked the timber panels on the walls and their use of blackboard paint. The kitchen is helmed by Chef Kelly Delaney, who hails from Australia with extensive experience of both Adelaide and Melbourne dining scene.

To start, Hubby had the roast pig and seasoned apple puff pastry, served with a baked apple chutney. The pastry was flaky and buttery with a great tasting filling.

I had the butter poached asparagus spears topped with a gorgeous sous vide egg, sultana & shaved almond panna grattato (ie breadcrumbs) and truffle honey. Lots of nice textures - silky smooth runny egg and crunch from the almonds and asparagus. An excellent start.

For mains, I had the delicious seafood risotto with generous amounts of sea treasures such as squid, prawns and fish. It was rich and creamy. Hubby had the beef cheek, with roasted cherry truss tomatoes and potato puree. The tomatoes certainly help brighten up this often unattractive dish and the beef cheeks were absolutely tender with a delicious sauce.

Dessert is a trio of mini desserts - Italian meringue with a tangy lemon curd, a torte with figs and dark chocolate mousse. Loved the entire selection.

Since we were enjoying the relaxed ambience and  found the food to be very tasty, we extended our lunch and ordered a charcuterie platter (RM25) of Iberico chorizo and serrano ham. The Iberico chorizo has been seasoned with paprika, herbs, garlic and salt whereas the Serrano had been bred on cereal and cured from seven to sixteen months. I absolutely adored the Serrano, one of my favorite cold cuts.

Madisons 2-course lunch is priced at RM35++ and 3-course lunch at RM40++. The set lunch is available from Mon-Fri, but they also do a 3-course weekend brunch at RM40++.
