Hotel Review: Park Suite @ Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur

"Mummy, I can see the Twin Towers", said Baby C! Our kids get very excited whenever they see the Twin Towers, so imagine their delight when we told them that we would be staying at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel,  KL for the night - right NEXT to the Twin Towers.

Last year, we entered a contest organized by the Hotel and Leica, and Hubby's entry was picked by Leica as the winning photo. :) As the Grand Prize winner, we were presented with a 2D/1N stay in the Park Suite of Mandarin Oriental KL, including 2 breakfasts and a dining voucher for 2 persons at Mosaic

I promptly made arrangements for us to stay here beginning of February. Making a room reservation was a very painful process (not sure if it was because we were redeeming a room using a voucher) but only after 5 phone calls, did we manage to get the room booked. Other than this hiccup, we had a very enjoyable stay at the hotel.

Check-in was efficient, and we were ushered to our suite in no time at all. The Park Suite, as its name indicate has a view of the KLCC Park and KL city (cant view the Twin Towers from our room) with 1 king sized bed and a separate living room (total size 882 sqft). The room has a classic interior, very spacious and a pretty great view! The bed with goose down bedding was very comfortable and we had a good night's sleep in it. In the bedroom there is also a working desk, a vanity desk and a walk-in wardrobe with safe/ironing board. Unfortunately, wifi is not complimentary even for suite guests. The front desk advised that it was included with the room, but when we checked out, we were told this was a miscommunication and wifi was actually chargeable.

In the living room, there is a dining table for 4 with some complimentary fruits. While the kids enjoyed the fruits, mummy went around snapping photos. There is a sofa and armchairs plus LCD TV, and also a coffee machine. There is a separate bath, walk-in shower and toilet. Usually, guests staying in the Park Suite will get access to the Mandarin Oriental Club Lounge, and get to enjoy afternoon tea and evening cocktails there, but we were told that this privilege was not included with our suite so we didn't get to check it out. But no worries as there is plenty to do around the area.

Complimentary fruits

Coffee/tea making facilities

Spacious bathroom with bathtub, separate shower and toilet

Toiletries

Vanity table and walk-in wardrobe

View of KLCC Park from the room - GREAT!

View of the swimming pool from our room - kids couldn't wait to get down there

We were blessed with wonderful weather during our two days stay here. It was very hot in the afternoon we arrived, but kids insisted that we went for a swim. I was so happy that the children's pool was shaded but the water was very warm - that's definitely a win-win situation for me. We had lots of fun here that afternoon and also the following morning after breakfast. Guests can order food and drinks from Cascade Restaurant which is located right by the pool. Other than the swimming pool, the hotel also has a spa and other facilities such as a tennis court and gym.

Dressing gowns and also yukata

Ready to have fun in the pool!

I like the reflection of Twin Towers on the Grand Hyatt building

After the swim - kids wrapped up warm!

Cocooned ! LOL.

Enjoying the view from our room

Watching the sunrise from our Park Suite - gorgeous purple sky!

Verdict: We definitely had a great stay here at Mandarin Oriental KL. Stay tuned for Part 2 (dining/what else we got up to in the vicinity) during our stay. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with great views and the kids simply loved the pool!

  2. The room looks great, I sure wouldn't mind living there on a permanent basis! Though the, ermm, 'rental' of more than rm60k a month makes it an unattainable fantasy for me, heh =) p.s. the kids are super cute in their warm wrappings!

  7. Waiting for so long to see this posting, hahaha! The room is sooooo expensive, how can I afford to stay there, are they doing anymore competition, hahaha!
As for the Delia Smith entry, I "early early" told Zoe that I would just focus on the LTU in this month no matter who is hosting it, absolutely not picking in any person, hahaha! The main reason is we eat tomatoes very often & most of the recipes have either been used or mainly simple Asian home cookings which do not require me to look for a recipe from the internet, becoz of that I kept cooking & baking until I have accumulated too many recipes that I have to share 2 recipes in 1 posting, leaving my other desserts & cookings abandoned(kasihan them). One thing that didn't click on me on later stage is that I should have search for a tomato recipe from Delia Smith then it would be 1 stone kills 2 birds loh, never thought of that, too late now & I have stopped cooking tomato dishes. Now I just wish that I can post all the tomato recipes so I can post others!wink wink!

  14. Just curious.. What is inside the many boxes such as the one beside the glass and coffee/tea, the red box on the coffeetable, the green box beside the hairdryer, the box beside the calendar, the box beside the towel in the bathroom. I never seen them when I was in the park view deluxe room.
