Japanese Desserts & Bread @ Cafe Komugi, Tokyo St, Pavilion KL

After shopping around in Pavilion KL for a couple of hours, we stopped at Cafe Komugi for some desserts and also to rest our tired feet. It has taken over the spot which previously housed En Ginza Cafe in Tokyo Street on 6th floor.

Komugi Café showcases the best of Japanese café culture and traditional French baking. The bakery kitchen is led byKevin Raffin Callot (French Master Baker) who was previously with the world famous Paul Bakery in France, and Imura Miki (Japanese Master Baker).

Since we were having dinner soon, we chose 2 desserts and 1 freshly baked bread to share. The Zahha chocolate cake (RM5.90) was pretty good, with moist sponge layers and light chocolate mousse. We also thoroughly enjoyed the Toyohashi pudding (RM4) - smooth, wobbly pudding served in a cute jar. Very similar to creme caramel.

Quite a wide variety of bread was available here. I was tempted to try more but had to resign myself to just one type - had the melon and nuts (RM3.90), slightly chewy in texture. Since we were eating this in the cafe, the staff heated it for us. I would go back to try more of their breads in future, spotted a nice looking brioche.

That pudding reminds me of the one we had in Nara. We kept the cute jar and bring it back with us, hehe.

  6. On one weekend when I was at Pavilion, I was surprised to see no longer En Ginza Cafe. But I see they both are alike. Or the same just change name?
Too bad couldn't get the chance to try...as it was fully occupied. *good business* ;-)
