Hotel Review: Swissotel The Stamford, Singapore

Great hotel with a great view..

...is none other than Swissotel The Stamford in Singapore. We stayed here back in May when we visited Singapore briefly. For such a great view plus great rooms, I was surprised to find that Swissotel The Stamford offered very competitive weekend room rates. We booked online and paid S$260++ per night for a classic room. Since I applied for the complimentary Swissotel Circle Card, we automatically got upgraded to the Swiss Advantage Room

And wow, I was totally impressed with the view when I stepped into our hotel room. It had a great view of the Marina Bay Sands as well the Singapore Flyer. (funny how nowadays you look on other 5-star hotel's websites and they always sell their rooms with a view of MBS). The room had a small balcony as well, so of course, we went outdoors and took some shots with and of the beautiful skyline.

Swissotel The Stamford is one of the tallest buildings in Singapore, as well as one of tallest hotels in Southeast Asia

The room was spacious (34m²), very clean and nicely appointed. I found the king-size bed very comfortable (so comfortable that I had a long lie in the next morning). All Swiss Advantage Rooms comes with complimentary wifi for 24 hours too ;)

Work station with ergonomic desk chair and LCD TV

There is a coffee machine in the room, with 3 Nespresso capsules which Hubby enjoyed. I on the other hand, enjoyed the quality TWG Tea provided.

Swimming pool. There is also a fitness centre and spa but we did not have time to visit any.

The hotel has many dining options, including Equinox Restaurant and JAAN on the 70th floor. They have this super-fast elevator which brings you up to the top in mere minutes. Since JAAN was closed due to the public holiday, we didn't get to dine there on this trip but we did on our following trip (it was amazing btw! - you can read our review of JAAN here). Anyhow since we were staying in the hotel, we went up to Level 70 to get a panaromic view of Singapore. Indeed this is where you can get one of the best views of Singapore.

Swissotel The Stamford is located on Stamford Road with City Hall MRT operating right below. It is also directly next to several shopping malls such as Raffles City and City Link Mall. Orchard Road is just 2-3 stops away on the MRT.

This marks the last post from our May Singapore trip. Moving on to July's trip next ;)

Verdict: I would not hesitate recommending this hotel to anyone visiting Singapore. The location is fantastic, rooms are spacious and nicely appointed and the views are great! Do book online as they have many special advantage such as early check-in, late check-in or complimentary upgrades.

  2. Enjoyed looking at your gorgeous photos. This is a very nice hotel, and the price is quite reasonable for $260++ I always had the impression that its alot more expensive than that.

    1. For the price we paid, I was happy with the rooms. I've paid double at other places but rooms were just so-so. Took these photos with my phone, happy they turned out well :D

    1. It's not a priority for me since I don't drink coffee, but I'm sure coffee drinkers would highly appreciate it.

    1. We stayed at Hilton Singapore before, but we like to try other hotels if we get a chance. Since their MRT is so efficient and convenient anyway.

  8. Hi, Yen, this post comes in handy to me as I'm looking for hotel to stay in Singapore now as most likely we are going to celebrate the x'mas there & will be there for a week! WHen I book hotel, I always go to Asia Web Direct as I found that their rates are cheaper than the ones offered by the hotel. Let me go to check later what's the x'mas rate offered by this website compares to the hotel itself. Thanks

    1. Hi Jessie, if I'm not mistaken this hotel has best rate guarantee so I think the room rates will be same with other websites. We stayed some other hotels but it's a little further away from the city so maybe not so convenient if you are travelling with kids.

  9. I love a detailed hotel review like this! It's always good to see what the rooms are like beyond the hotel's pictures :)

    1. It's always nice if you get a room that's nicer than what's depicted on their website but mostly, the rooms are not as illustrated and that would be rather disappointing. We were extremely happy with the room we got here, thanks to the great view especially!

    1. Hi Jackie, I'm sorry but I don't remember. It was quite a long time ago. If it helps, this was the Swiss Advantage Room. You can contact them here: https://www.swissotel.com/contact-us/

They are usually very quick in responding.
