Nine Brand Spanking New Dishes @ T.G.I. Friday's Malaysia

Thank God It's Friday...

Ready for the weekend? Have anything exciting planned - perhaps visiting the Matta Fair or the Putrajaya Hot Air Balloon Festival? Or like me, enjoy good food all weekend ;)

If you want to try something new, T.G.I. Friday's have recently launched their Brand Spanking New Menu which features 9 new dishes as well as a contest for diners to win "a new you"! Usually when we visit T.G.I. Friday's, we always order the nachos, burgers, quesadillas, fajitas or the spicy buffalo wings. It was nice to try something new/different for a change.

Brand Spanking New Dishes

Eeny meeny miny moe, which is your favourite of them all?

Out of the 9, my three favorites are the Grilled Caribbean Wings, Bistro Shrimp & Asparagus Pasta and Osso Bucco.

Grilled Caribbean Wings (RM16.90) - The chicken wings are Caribbean seasoned and glazed with a tropical spiced sauce. For me the flavours were spot on and the meat was tender, falling off the bones easily. And being a huge fan of chicken wings, I could easily finish this whole plate on my own (6 pieces).

Cobb Salad (RM28.90) - the salad portion is huge, so I suggest sharing this with your friends. The salad is made up of diced chicken breast, crisp beef bacon, avocado, Cheddar cheese, hardboiled egg, black olives, tomatoes and crumbled Bleu cheese atop a bowl of fresh salad greens.

California Club Sandwich (RM24.90) - a hefty sandwich layered with mesquite smoked turkey breast, crispy beef bacon, turkey ham, Monterey Jack cheese, guacamole and mayonnaise.

Osso bucco (RM36.90) - The Milanese specialty uses veal shank, but here they have used lamb shank instead. This was rather enjoyable as the meat has been slow roasted with roasted vegetables and plum tomato sauce til tender. It is served with Cheddar cheese mashed potatoes. The portion for this is just enough for a small eater.

Grilled snapper with tomato cucumber vinaigrette (RM32.90) - One of the healthier options, the chargrilled snapper fillet was moist enough to enjoy and is served with savoury rice and steamed brocolli.

Championship BBQ Chicken (RM28.90) - roasted half chicken which was quite moist and served with crispy onion rings, mashed potatoes and Championship BBQ sauce. With a name like that, doesn't it make you feel intrigued as to how "champion" this chicken is?

Bistro Shrimp and Asparagus Pasta (RM29.90) - This was surprisingly good. The spaghetti has been cooked al dente and is tossed with sauteed shrimp simmered in lemon sauce and garlic, tomato, asparagus, basil and Parmesan cheese. I also counted quite many prawns in this one.

Garlic Spaghetti Vegetali (RM19.90) - a colorful vegetarian version, thanks to the broccoli, tomatoes, radicchio, aragula, garlic, basil, and Parmesan cheese. This tasted decent but go for the prawn pasta which is much more flavorful.

Chocolate Cinnamon Crisps (RM12.90)- crispy wonton squares with melted chocolate and cinnamon in the centre, served with butterscotch sauce, fresh strawberries and vanilla ice cream. The piece I tried did not have enough chocolate in the centre.

To participate in the “Brand Spanking New You” contest. all you have to do is to order one of the above dishes and rate them on the ratings card provided, and then rate your favorite lifestyle experiences from the choices given in the card. Among these experiences include a trip to Universal Studios in Singapore, sky diving and flying lessons, a complete makeover package, being a DJ or pop star for a day, an all expense paid shopping trip, and many more.

A winner will be picked every two weeks and T.G.I.Friday's will make the experience chosen come true. There will be a total of four winners over the contest period.
