Majestic Dragon - Chinese New Year Decor 2012 at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur

2012 marks the Year of the Dragon. One of the most impressive CNY decor we have come across in KL is the giant (very long) majestic dragon at the centre court of Pavilion KL. Eye-catching, yes? For those who cannot make it to Pavilion KL, here are some photos I took today:

If you get the chance, do drop by yourself to see the wonderful CNY decor as well as visit the United Buddy Bears (available til 15 Feb 2012).

  1. Impressive. The dragon looked very fierce. Sure good biz for them this year.

But i dont like the look of the dragon at Royal Selangor's flagship store . To me it looks a bit like sausages sprouting an old leg and head

  2. gosh, i wonder how many hours (or days!) it took them to put up the dragon! but i guess shopping mall decorators must love the year of the dragon, cos it allows them to put up such magnificent displays. guess they hate the year of the rat :D

    1. Lol to your comment about rat year decor. I'm sure that's when they use cute "mouse" rather than rat to decorate the mall. ie Mickey and Minnie mouse. :P

    1. Agreed. While the main Pavilion dragon was awe-inspiring... Devil and I thought the Royal Selangor one looked like the poor creature got chopped into bits. We understand what the designer was after, but perhaps the end result wasn't "3D" enough to achieve the desired effect?

    2. Choi Yen: Yea, we go here quite often since we're a little bored of MidValley edi.

I think the designer was trying to make the dragon look like it's coming out from different parts of the maze right. Some parts should have been made longer and slipped into the gaps for the desired effect they're after, me thinks.

  6. Love the dragons! I've never seen such long tails. I know it's all very consumeristic but I love the way Malaysia fully embraces every opportunity for a celebration.
