Strawberries and Ice Cream

Strawberries and cream or even strawberries and ice cream make a great summer dessert. Modern farming techniques have resulted in the humble garden strawberry being available all year round in major European supermarkets.

How does ovaries and ice cream sound!!

The strawberry is an aggregate accessory fruit, meaning that the fleshy part is derived not from the plant's ovaries (achenes) but from the receptacle that holds the ovaries. Each "seed" on the outside of the fruit is actually one of the ovaries of the flower, with a seed inside it. (Source:Wikipedia)

For a fast yummy, world class dessert I challenge you to think of anything easier.

- Wash the strawberries in cold water

- Pull the stalks and leaves away from the body of the fruit

- Cut them in half from top to bottom

- Place in a serving dish

- Sprinkle with sugar (if you so desire)

- Place a scoop of ice cream / pour over some pouring cream / add a dollop of whipped cream (depending on your preference or availability).

- Serve and Enjoy !!

It took longer to write these simple steps than it did to prepare the dessert you see below..

  4. Better still, dip them in hot dark chocolate and leave to cool on foil lined tray. Pop into the fridge after they have cooled and serve with sinful triple dark chocolate ice cream as in ice cream topped with dark chocolate syrup and dark chocolate bits!
