I baked: Jamie Oliver's Chocolate Brownies

A chocolate lover's dream. Sinfully good chocolate brownies that just melts in your mouth.

Chocolate brownies
Preparation time: 30 minutes
Cooking time: 25 minutes
Makes 16

Ingredients
200g butter, and extra for greasing
160g cooking chocolate, broken into small pieces
64g cocoa powder, sifted
52g plain flour, sifted
1 tsp baking powder
230g caster sugar
3 large eggs, beaten
Walnut pieces, to decorate

1. Preheat oven to 180°C.
2. Lightly grease a 20cm square baking tin with a little butter and line with baking paper.
3. In a large bowl over simmering water, melt the butter and chocolate and mix until smooth.

4. In a separate bowl, mix the cocoa powder, flour, baking powder and sugar.
5. Add the flour mixture to the chocolate mixture and mix well.

6. Beat the eggs and mix in until the consistency is silky.
7. Bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes. The brownies should be slightly springy on the outside but still gooey in the middle.

8. Allow to cool in the tray, then cut into 16 slices and decorate with walnut pieces. Serve with vanilla ice-cream (if available).

The above is adapted from Jamie Oliver's Bloomin' Brilliant Brownies recipe (click here).

  6. junwen: Sorry to hear it didn't turn out well for you. I've baked brownies according to this recipe several times and each time it turned out really moist ang gooey.

Did you use the right setting for baking? Perhaps you can try a temperature of 10 degrees lower and bake for 25 minutes only. Make sure your baking tin is placed in the middle of the oven and not the top. And do double check your measurements.
