This is a gorgeous restaurant with beautiful paintings on the ceilings. They serve traditional Bavarian specialties with a fine dining twist. I think this is mainly due to the fact that the chef , Michael Schubaur was a pupil of the famous Bavarian Michelin star chef Otto Koch. Please note that this restaurant uses fresh ingredients from the region, and organic whenever possible.

They serve various Lowenbrau tap beers here, The Unc ordered the Lowenbrau Weizenbeer (0.50 l, €4,00). We saw lots of men (and some women too) drinking a maß (that's a 1l mug) of beer. They really love their beers!

Their English menus come with illustrations, so you know what you're getting. (For more information on the menu, please click here)

For my main, I ordered the Entenbraten (€14,00 for 1/4 duck), one of the Ratskeller favorites, which is roast Bavarian duck rested on a bed of sauteed regional vegetables and organic potatoes. It was a very delicious dish, love the duck and gravy.

The Unc ordered the Mixed Grill Surf & Turf (€25,00) - broiled medallions of pork, filet mignon cooked to perfection, a jumbo shrimp (yum!), smoked Schnapps Bratwurst (sausage), broiled bacon strips, green beans, pommes frites with a herb butter sauce. This is a superb dish!

For dessert, I had the warm Bayerischer Applestrudel (€7,25) served with whipped cream, fresh cream and vanilla ice-cream. This, my friends, is simply delightful to eat. I really loved the filling - juicy apples with a hint of cinnamon.

The Unc's dessert was a bit of a miss, Ratskeller Kase Kuchen (€4,25), which is cheese cake served with whipped cream and drizzled with chocolate sauce.

We certainly enjoyed our meal here. The Unc has since returned to this restaurant twice after our visit.

Has 2 non-smoking sections.
Service: English-speaking waiter. Very friendly. Good service.
Food: Personally, I think the food presentation here is quite good and dainty compared to the usual big portions you get in a German restaurant.
Price: A little pricier compared to other restaurants. But the food quality is good.
