Andrew's Kampung, Batu Ferringhi, Penang

For those visiting the Batu Feringghi area in Penang, Andrew's Kampung is a lovely restaurant you can visit for a meal. This casual restaurant is located on the first floor of Eden Parade (which is directly opposite Golden Sands Resort) with a menu serving Asian food, predominantly Chinese as well as Malaysian and Thai cuisine.

I would say that their menu caters more for the Caucasian crowd, which forms the majority of their clientele. Nevertheless the food here was very tasty and the owner is extremely jovial, and makes everyone feel welcomed in his restaurant.

On the menu, we see a couple of our dishes we used to have when we lived abroad. One of them is the Crispy 1/4 duck served with pancakes (RM39.90), which is just like the crispy aromatic duck we love. Beautifully done, the duck has been marinated for 24 hours, steamed and deep fried to order. At the table, the server will shred the duck meat and you can wrap it inside the steamed pancakes along with julienned cucumber, spring onion, plum sauce and hoisin sauce. Highly recommended!

We also had the Sizzling Beef (RM17.90) served on a hotplate. The beef was tender and flavorful... so good!

Finally, we shared a Pineapple fried rice (RM8.90), tinted yellow by the turmeric. Nicely fragrant.

The restaurant does get very busy, so do make reservations if possible.

Pork-free.
