Review: The Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa

The Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa is a five-star family-friendly beachfront resort located on the idyllic Langkawi Island in Malaysia.

Upon arrival at the resort, stunning, picturesque views of the Andaman Sea and the warm sea breeze greeted us. This is the start of a wonderful beach family holiday.. I can feel it in my bones! ;)

Westin Langkawi

The resort boasts 221 guest rooms and suites, luxurious private pool villas and a 5-bedroom private pool villa, all with amazing views of the seascape or tropical gardens. Officially opened in 2006, the resort features a traditional Minangkabau-style clay roof that can be seen miles away from the Andaman Sea, making this one of the iconic landmarks in Langkawi.

Shortly after enjoying our cold coconuts and a light lunch at Breeze Lounge, we were ushered to our room, or should I say suite. We stayed in the gorgeous 2-bedroom Renewal Suite (289 sqm) and the sheer vastness of the suite is enough to impress you. Ideal for a family of four, the suite is plush and luxuriously appointed with two separate bedrooms, a spacious living and dining area, a pantry with a gourmet coffee maker, a reading room/relaxation lounge, two bathrooms, one toilet and a huge private balcony that offers the same gorgeous view of the sparkling Andaman Sea and Langkawi's famous isle's, The Pregnant Maiden and Tuba Island.

Opulent chandeliers in the living room

Lovely welcome amenities awaiting us in the suite ;)

All rooms are equipped with the award-winning Heavenly Bed by Westin, with its seven crisp, white layers of bedding, five plush pillows, and an exclusive pillow-top mattress plus extras such as the Lavender Balm to help you wind down naturally and SLEEP WELL.

King bed in the master bedroom and twin beds for the children in a separate bedroom. Both rooms are equipped with a 42-inch super plasma smart TV.

Reading lounge with floor-to-ceiling windows... to maximise enjoyment of the beautiful view outside!

View from our balcony

Lovely gifts for our kids during turndown service.

Westin Hotels & Resorts has been a leader in wellness and hospitality for more than a decade, and lives its philosophy “For a Better You™” through the brand’s six pillars of Well-Being: Feel Well, Work Well, Move Well, Eat Well, Sleep Well and Play Well. At Westin Langkawi, a wide selection of dining options and activities are available to cater to discerning hotel guests.

Dining options are aplenty here at Westin Langkawi, with six on-site F&B outlets for guests to indulge at. Breakfast is served daily at Seasonal Tastes, where a scrumptious yet healthy spread awaits you. Start your morning right with your choice of fresh juice from the Westin Juicery, complemented by the live cooking stations, fresh fruits, bakery items and daily specials. Every Thursday to Saturday, feast on the tantalizing International Dinner Buffet  with an array of fresh seafood on ice, live pasta and noodle stations, dim sum, sushi, Arabic and Indian cuisine, popular local dishes and more.

Since you're on holiday, why not spoil yourself to a decadent breakfast in bed? Enjoy a long lie in and get your breakfast delivered to you. The boys opted for it one morning and Baby D loved it cos he gets to eat breakfast in his PJs while watching cartoons on TV.

Located on Level 4 of the resort, Breeze Lounge offers one of my favourite views in the hotel; the outdoor terrace opens out to the beautiful sea and inviting pool. Along with blue skies, sunshine and fresh sea breeze on your face, this is the perfect place to unwind and relax with a cocktail or mocktail or simply grab a light bite.

Eat Well at Breeze Lounge - a specialty curated menu by the kitchen team here, which include Quinoa and seared scallops, Pan fried organic salmon, and Manjari Chocolate Bavarois.

Enjoy live entertainment by the resident band in the evenings, while sipping on one of the crafted cocktails and mocktails. Check out our Jumbo (Virgin) Mojito.

TIDE is the award-winning beachfront restaurant set amidst a vibrant backdrop of stunning view of the Andaman Sea and nearby isles. Guests can enjoy a leisurely lunch or dinner, with a menu focusing on fresh seafood, pizzas, fresh salads and grill items.

We also enjoyed an amazing Middle Eastern dinner at TIDE, prepared by the team from Amaseena Dubai which were doing a pop-up restaurant here at Westin Langkawi. Check out our full review here.

Beautiful sunsets at Westin Langkawi

For a romantic dining experience, The Westin Langkawi is able to curate a special 5-course seafood dinner at Float, the resort’s private jetty that stretches out into the sea or at Anjung Damai, one of the intimate beachfront cabanas.

At The Westin Langkawi, guests can enjoy a refreshing dip in one of four resort-style pools - the Ocean Rock Pool, Infinity Pool with an adjoining outdoor whirlpool, Children's Pool and the restorative Heavenly Spa Pool (for adults only). Take a break from swimming and grab a drink at Splash poolside bar. Guests can also head down to the sandy beach and chill with a book under one of the shady lounge chairs.

As one of the most family-friendly resorts in Langkawi, Westin Langkawi offers the Westin Kids Club for kids aged 4 to 12 years old.  The Kids Club introduces children to the traditions, sights, tastes and sounds of Langkawi, with its wide range of daily-changing activities including exploring the beach, nature walks and taking part in local games as well as indoor activities such as batik painting, board games and more.

The resort also offer fun recreational activities for the whole family, from kayaking to pedal boating, wind surfing, sepak raga, beach volleyball and petanque.

  1. Nice, comfortable. I wonder if I will ever get to visit Langkawi again though. Don't see any reason to go there.

  3. Very beautiful snaps. Honestly speaking, Langkawi is one of my favorite destinations. I had been to Langkawi through Ambong Pool Villas and reserved my stay. The place is alluring.
