The Lounge, New World Petaling Jaya Hotel

With high ceilings and cascading lights, The Lounge at New World Petaling Jaya Hotel is a gorgeous spot for a meet up with friends or business partners over coffee, tea and cakes.

Natural sunlight pours in through the ceiling-to-floor windows. The ambiance is relaxing and the wau (Malaysian traditional kite) artwork at the bar area adds a Malaysian touch to this beautiful space.

A selection of pastries are proudly displayed in the glass cabinets - the Chocolate Tart and Chocolate Ganache that we had were excellent. Delicate yet rich and sumptuous. In fact, most of the pastries that we had here at the hotel impressed us greatly. Service is also warm and welcoming, making our afternoon tea session here extremely enjoyable.

BabySumoKids love the refreshing lemonade!

Bankara Ramen, Avenue K, KL

During our stay at Traders Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, we hopped on the complimentary buggy, got off at Suria KLCC, and walked over to Avenue K since the kids wanted to try and "catch" the Easter Bunny at the mall since it was Easter weekend.

For lunch, the kids chose Bankara Ramen. The last time we dined here was in 2014 and had a pleasant experience.  We went for the Tonkotsu Ramen (RM25) which comes with imported thin noodles, in a delicious milky broth. It was really rich and creamy, which Baby C absolutely adores. It only still comes with one slice of chashu, along with spring onions, jew's ear mushroom and seaweed. The kids preferred this over the signature Bankara Ramen (RM25) that Hubby ordered, which comes with medium noodles and a pork-based shoyu broth. This also comes with one slice of chashu, bamboo shoots, dried seaweed and Japanese onions. A must-order here are the ni tamago (RM2.80), Omega eggs marinated in special soy sauce - so good!

Stopped by for Chatime!

Yay! Look who we found! Mission accomplished.

Opening times: 11am to 11pm daily.

Price: Total bill RM69.95.

Location: Bankara Ramen, Lot 2-7, Level 2, Avenue K Shopping Mall, 156, Jalan Ampang, 50450 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Tel: 03-2181 8618

10 Reasons Why You Should Stay at Traders Hotel, Kuala Lumpur

When visiting a new city, what do you look for when searching for the best hotel to stay in?

We recently had an amazing family staycation at one of our favorite hotels in KL, the Traders Hotel, Kuala Lumpur and here are 10 reasons why we love the hotel and why you too should stay here for your next holiday! Read on.

1. Location

Location, location, location. Traders Hotel, Kuala Lumpur is strategically located in the heart of KL city, making it ideal for those travelling for both business or leisure.

When visiting Malaysia, one of the must-see places is undoubtedly the iconic Petronas Twin Towers. The hotel is situated within walking distance from this famous landmark as well as various shopping malls such as Suria KLCC, Avenue K and Pavilion Kuala Lumpur and is also connected to the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

2. Rooms with a view

I admit I'm slightly obsessed with the view; although we have been living in Malaysia for many years now, I never tire looking at those majestic towers. A staycation here at Traders is the license for you to go snap happy and get those picture perfect moments with the iconic towers.

For the rooms with the best view, go for the Traders Club Twin Towers view rooms, which gives you a great view of the towers as well as overlook the KLCC Park. This room category also gives you access to the Traders Club Lounge for breakfast and cocktail hour.

Our adjoining rooms, located on the 30th Floor were well-appointed with a plush king sized bed (or two twin beds), LCD/LED TV, four-feature bathroom, complimentary Wifi and coffee/tea making facilities.

Welcome amenities - cupcakes and fresh fruits

Large picture windows... perfect for shots like these!

The bathroom is also spacious and comes with a bathtub, separate shower, toilet and a complete set of amenities.

3. KLCC Park

We love the fact that we could wake up in the mornings, take the lift downstairs and the KLCC Park is right at our doorstep. You can go here for a morning or evening jog, a leisurely walk and for families, there is a fantastic (massive) outdoor playground for your children to have fun in. There is also a water play area for your kids under 12 to splash in.

Best time to visit would be early morning before it gets too hot. Lots of gorgeous spots for photography here too (think tall, lush green trees as well the Twin Towers).

4. Breakfast with a view

There's not many hotels in Kuala Lumpur which can offer you a view like this, to go with your breakfast.

The Traders Club Lounge, located on Level 32 operates daily from 6.30am to 11.00pm and offers a buffet breakfast in the mornings, light refreshments throughout the day and evening cocktails with light bites from 5.00pm to 7.00pm.

To secure a table with a good view, it pays to come early, though mostly it's based on luck. For breakfast, you can choose eggs cooked to order, as well as items from the buffet spread, such as congee, mee goreng, nasi lemak, salad, sushi, pastries, fresh juices and cereal. Buffet breakfast is also served at Gobo Chit Chat (bigger spread, sans view)

For cocktail hour, it is also advisable to come early as it can get quite busy as it is clearly a popular spot for a sundowner. Enjoy a glass of wine or cocktail as well as soft drinks, fresh juices, coffee or tea while you watch the sun set.

5. The Legendary Seafood Buffet

Gobo Chit Chat is well-known for its Bucked Out Seafood Buffet, which runs every Friday and Saturday for dinner. Fill your bellies with an amazing array of fresh seafood, then retire to your room after a seafood feast.

6. The Mighty Tomahawk

If you're a steak lover, you will definitely have to visit Gobo Upstairs for the mighty tomahawk. Weighing in at 1.5kg, the tomahawk is tender and juicy and is perfect for sharing.

7. Sky Bar

You haven't been to Kuala Lumpur unless you've been to SkyBar, the best rooftop bar in KL with unobstructed views of the Petronas Twin Towers. Wine, champagne, rosé, sparkling wine, whisky, beer, cocktails, champagne cocktails.. take your pick from the impressive range of delicious drinks here.

8. Pool with a view

The pool is located on Level 33 (same level as Sky Bar) hence providing guests with the same amazing view during the day. With a depth of 1.17m, the pool area is pretty popular with families during the day. You can also order from the room service menu and enjoy a bite here.

9. Complimentary buggy service to Suria KLCC

Although Suria KLCC / Petronas Twin Towers is only a 5-10 minutes walk away, the kids loved the thrill of jumping onto the complimentary buggy, and riding from the hotel to the mall. The buggy service runs frequently, from 8am to 10pm (Mon-Fri) and 9am to 10pm (Sat, Sun and PH).

10. Creating Memories

All the above points plus the friendly, warm service will make your stay at Traders Hotel, Kuala Lumpur a truly memorable one. When you check out, you'll leave not only with good memories but tons of amazing photos which you can look back on in years to come.
