Fun Things To Do With Kids: Farm in the City, Seri Kembangan, Selangor, Malaysia

During the last school holidays, we took our kids to Farm in The City in Seri Kembangan for a morning of fun. Not only did the kids enjoy themselves, the adults did too - it was definitely an educational and fun day for us all. It's amazing the amount of things you can learn and see in an hour in this place.

Farm in the City is considered a petting mini-zoo whereby children and adults are encouraged to get close to nature and animals. Animals are allowed to roam free in special enclosures which mimic their natural habitat as closely as possible. Personally I prefer Farm in The City to the zoo, since our kids were encouraged to feed and touch the animals and the caretakers/keepers would also explain about the origins and facts of the animals to us. The price of ticket is RM30 for adults and RM25 for children below 12. Children below 90cm in height will enjoy free entrance. All kids will be given a "Certificate of Attendance" at the end of the visit.  Our kids love it here so much, they have been asking when we are going to the "farm" again ;)

Bring plenty of water and hat as it can get quite hot (although there are lots of trees inside). We spent about 1 1/2 hours here, there is a cafe just by the entrance but we wanted to have a picnic and ended up having a picnic in the carpark! There is always a first time for everything, eh?  ;)

Hope you enjoy the photos!

Electric blue Macaw

Farm in The City is about 30 minutes drive from Cheras, KL

First, we meet the "World's Smallest Species of Horse"

Purple flower

Aldabra Giant Tortoise - it's huge and it has got a big appetite!

Baby D really enjoyed feeding the animals here

One of the largest tortoises in the world

Pig-nosed turtle (Carettochelys insculpta), also known as the pitted-shelled turtle or Fly River turtle

The World's Rarest White Crow

Walk-through bird aviary - lots of different birds/ ducks / peacocks

Peahen

The caretaker puts some food in your hand, blows a whistle and all the birds will come flying.

Hey dude you got something stuck on your mouth (beak)!

Duck

Peacock, too proud to show its tail

This Sri Lankan goat is so tall! And it can stand on its two hind legs like this.... wow!

    1. Sean, I also don't like it too hot outdoors, surprisingly it was bearable although we were here til almost 12 noon. It would be ideal if there was a cool breeze.
