Despite lots of new restaurants opening in KL, we always come back to Sage as we simply love the food here. Consistently good, a pleasure for both eyes and tastebuds!
We went for the 4-course Discovery Seasonal Lunch menu, starting with the cold appetizer of thinly sliced hiramasa with yurine (edible lily bulbs), horensou (spinach) and truffle soy. Chef Daniel's cold fish appetizer is always my favorite dish here at Sage, something very simple yet very delicious!
Moving on to the hot appetizer, we had the Sea Urchin Risotto with Green Lip Abalone and Iwanori Butter Sauce. Quite a light tasting risotto, it felt like a waste to mix in the sea urchin into the rice so I just ate it first :P
Said it before, but I will say it again - Sage does steaks really well! We devoured the Grass Fed Beef Striploin, served with Baby Rocket and Ponzu Sauce. Although the steak was grass fed, it was really tender on top of being flavourful. Loved it! Happy that the portion is much bigger than usual as well.
Dessert was Baked Lima Bean in Phyllo Pastry, served with with Caramel Ice Cream. I've only had lima bean in savoury dishes before, so this was an interesting take on a dessert. The white-variety lima bean is encased in the phyllo pastry, giving the dessert a nutty flavour. They also served us a slice of cake as Hubby informed them it was my birthday. Thank you!
