Hotel Review: St Giles The Gardens- Grand Hotel & Residences KL

Over the Father's Day weekend, Hubby and I went on a couple's staycation in the city. We stayed for a night at St Giles The Gardens - Grand Hotel & Residences KL, and yay, what a nice relaxing break it was for us. Thanks to my mum who helped us babysit the kids, so we got to rejuvenate and spend time together as a couple.

The Gardens is conveniently located in Mid Valley City, next to 2 shopping malls and is also connected by KTM Komuter. It houses over 600 guest rooms and residences and is the first hotel in Malaysia to offer a totally no-smoking environment in all its guest rooms and enclosed areas. However, designated smoking areas are available at the hotel.

During our stay, we stayed in The Gardens Hotel in their Deluxe Room. The interior is modern and stylish and room is spacious. We have previously stayed here in 2009 and it's good to see the rooms well-maintained. The room comes with a comfortable king-sized bed with a pillow menu for you to choose from. The bathroom area is partitioned off by a mirrored sliding door, and is equipped with a separate toilet and long bath and shower with rain showerhead. There is coffee/tea making facilities, as well as a study table, LCD TV and complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the hotel.

The swimming pool is located on Level 5; there is an adult infinity pool as well as a children's dipping pool. There is also a well-equipped gym on this level. Usually, I'll be snapping my kids photos at the pool, but this time it's the parents turn to get their photos taken. ;)

Had 2 lovely chilling sessions by the pool

Guests who stay in the Executive Deluxe or Executive Premier Rooms (12 years old and above) gets access to the Executive Lounge. For the purpose of our review, we were granted access to the Lounge, but do note that Deluxe Rooms usually do not get this privilege.

Guests can enjoy cocktail hour between 5.30pm to 7.30pm, whereby a range of alcoholic beverages such as Jack Daniel's, Gordon's Gin, vodka as well as red and white wine are available. There are also canapes, cheese, dessert as well as chicken wings to snack on.

The hotel has five F&B outlets, including Sage (my fav restaurant!), The Spread (their all-day dining restaurant), Ri-Yakitori, Lobby Bar and Pool Bar. Breakfast is served at The Spread, and we enjoyed the excellent selection, including roti canai, curry laksa, mee goreng, eggs, dim sum, and more.

  1. Can I be there right now? Pretty please? I do like lounge access and it's nice to have a quiet breakfast or a drink before you go out. Or sometimes if you're not hungry, there can be enough for dinner too!

  3. I stayed here over this weekend and the breakfast and environment is no at all 5 star. Arrived and there was nobody to usher you to your table and ask whether you wanted coffee or tea. The floor looks dirty environment feels old more like a food court as breakfast spread presentation and taste is not at all 5 star. For western breakfast spread thee was no baked beans and they had little meatballs that tasted like it was from a can. Waffles were cut into half sizes and looked as if they were trying to cut cost. Dim sum was just one little cabinet with lotus leaf, some little wrappings of chicken and some very dry looking uninviting dumpling. Sunny side eggs were cooked poorly and was 50 raw and slimy. I definely don't recommend to take up their breakfast spread. I have had way better at 3 star hotels
