Early Mother's Day Celebration @ Sage Restaurant & Wine Bar, The Gardens KL

"Darling, would you like to go to XX for lunch?" I love it whenever Hubby utters these words to me, music to my ears. ;P The venue for our lunch date this time is one of my all-time favourite restaurants, Sage.

With so many new restaurants to try in KL, we have not been to Sage for lunch for a while. We really enjoyed our lunch here - immaculately prepared food as always, reaffirming its position as one of the best places to have an exquisite lunch. This would be the perfect place to bring your wife/mother for a pre-Mother's Day lunch (btw Mother's Day is on Sun 12th May). In fact this was an early Mother's Day treat for me :D

We were both feeling greedy so we opted for 4-course set lunch at RM120 each. We had both the appetizers - Consomme of Oxtail with Foie Gras, Kabu and Shimeji Mushroom and Seaweed Risotto with King Scallop and Parmesan Cheese Tuile. It was hard to pick which one is better - I love them both! The consomme was light and flavorful, with tender oxtail and textures from the shimeji mushroom. On the other hand, the seaweed risotto was slightly richer and full of umami goodness.

Main course was a choice of Atlantic seabass or slow cooked lamb rack. We both went for the lamb and it was cooked to perfection. So tender, so flavorful, we relished every bite. Portion for mains was much more generous than we expected, so we were happy.

I have had some poorly made crepe Suzette in KL before, so I was a little hesitant to order this at first. But it turned out to be good, a perfect balance of flavours and absolutely love the smooth vanilla ice cream. Hubby went for the cheese platter - 2 types of artisanal and fermier cheese with a fig terrine and walnut bread. All enjoyed with a cup of latte and English breakfast tea.

    1. The starters were a bit small, but that's Sage's style. But very good quality ingredients for sure.
